What Does “I’m Okay” Even Mean?
Agreement, acceptance, approval, and satisfactory but not exceptionally good are all definitions of okay.
Not too good, not too bad Yesterday, today, or existing sad
A reach, a stretch, and one foot out the door How low can you limbo till you’re flat on the floor
Agree to be and accept your luck Sleepwalking, tired from letting it suck
Dulled responses, a familiar pattern This lane I’m in only follows that turn
Reverse and learn and find your off-ramp Follow the signs instead of parking at camp
Is being okay a C when rating you or me Stuck in the middle striving for a B
Do you approve but leave your say at bay Give in, give up, or work to make a way
All right can write it better, see it through Stories grow in the climb, but the fairytales aren’t new
Dress them up, make them yours Share the view with wide-open doors
Okay isn’t only okay. I’m not okay. I want better. I see better. I know better. I give better. I will receive better.
