What Do You Do with Your Old Articles?

No, I Really Want to Know.

I’ve been writing here on Medium since November of 2021, just shy of two years at the time of this writing. I didn’t write all that much in the beginning, but as time has gone by, I’ve ended up writing more and more. It wasn’t all that long ago that I pounded out five stories in one day. Today, I’ve worked on two and completed a third, which I published. If this one gets finished today, I’ll publish it.

I’ve got a bunch of partly finished pieces that I either got bored with or just went to sleep on. Not that they were boring; I just ran out of time and went to bed.

In the old days, I would save those partially finished pieces to my 12.doc file. At last count, there were 21 stories there. Not necessarily rejects, just actors waiting in the wings. I’ve been adding to it and could probably fish a few out and get them scheduled for some time in the future.

Anyway, thinking about those possible articles, I thought of all the old pieces I’ve got. Nobody is reading that stuff. At least, not that I can tell, except for the one I have pinned up on my profile. That gets a lot of airplay. I’ve also pinned a Table of Contents underneath the one article at the top. Other than that, nothing old gets read.

So, it is my understanding that I could remove some of those older stories completely, wait a few weeks, and then republish them on Medium again. I ought to, I imagine, rework them a little or just use them somewhere else, like in a book. I wonder if I should change the title. Actually, I’m not all that interested in putting them in a book. Maybe someday, something to either help people get motivated or examples of channeling.

Wait, I just thought of something. I could do interviews with famous dead people. That might be fun. I’ve already talked with Gilda Radner a few times. I’ll put the link below. Imagine. I could talk to anybody. Who would be fun? Oh, some chefs. Julia Child and James Beard, oh, and Anthony Bourdain. Yeah, a book of interviews with 20 cooks and chefs. I’d also like to talk to some painters. Salvador Dali comes to mind. I’d like to talk to Leonardo DaVinci. I’d like to talk to Johhny Weissmuller. I’d like to talk to Robin Williams. I could call it Interviews with Dead Guys.

Okay, well enough of that. I like thinking out loud. It helps me to decide on things. I’m wondering if putting my Table of Contents or my Profile page at the bottom of an article might help get the word out.

Tell me what you might like to see me put in a book. I’ve got four of them pretty much written now, with a couple of months’ worth of work to do that they could get published. That would be my three-part series of Get a Job books for young people and my other one of how to learn to channel and save money on psychics. I started both of those during different NaNoWriMo writing challenges. The next NaNoWriMo will be in April of 2024. After that, it will be July and then November of 2024.

Thanks for reading.
