Summarize

What are your feelings on assassination?

Sounds a bit heavy, but bear with me.

Now many people outside of the UK often mistakenly think that our Prime Ministers are also the heads of state, but this is not the case. The head of state in Great Britain is the reigning monarch of the day, and if you don’t count a couple of Kings murdered during the War of the Roses, plus poor Charles 1st in 1649, assassinations of heads of state have been thin on the ground recently.

There were several attempts on the life of Queen Victoria by anarchists or maybe people who did not appreciate her witty one liners and quirky sense of humour, and of course they all failed.

But we have had a prime minister assassinated. Spencer Perceval.

Spencer Perceval was Prime Minister of Great Britain between 1809 and 1812. He was shot and killed by a Mr John Bellingham in the lobby of the House of Commons in May 1812.

John Bellingham was a deranged businessman who had a grudge against the government. You don’t have to be deranged to hold a grudge against a government, but I think shooting the PM is not to be encouraged.

In fact, I am totally opposed to assassination, either as a method of regime change or revenge for past misdemeanours.

What would I do to seek revenge on an unpopular leader or ex leader?

Let us take one past prime minister as an example.

This gentleman now tours the world making mucho dollars. I believe he is very popular in the USA.

I thought he was as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike.

But I wish him a long life.

I hope he gets well into his dotage with all his faculties intact, plus untreatable hemorrhoids. 😆

That would be my revenge.
