I’m a Marvel guy.

Okay, that’s not entirely true. Both DC and Marvel have strengths and weaknesses.

Drastically simplifying the differences, DC’s had absolutely phenomenal animated properties over the last several decades, while severely lacking in well-received, live-action properties (Snyder Cut notwithstanding). I don’t hate the DC movies, but that’s just me. Marvel’s had lackluster animated products for decades, but blew the world away with its unprecedented and industry-changing connected universe.

The MCU is a masterpiece of storytelling and fanservice. Looking at their new mini-series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is different altogether — combining aspects of the genre-breaking WandaVision’s grief and loss, with self-doubt, identity, and racial politics. It’s a grabbing and engaging show that questions your place in a world of gray areas and implicit biases. I highly recommend both, whether you’ve followed the MCU to this point or not.
