Well-Being Stems from Managing Your Thoughts, Feelings, and Behaviors the Best Way Possible
Steer your life toward health and contentment

We all want to enjoy healthy well-being. Yet, often we don’t consider what it is or how to go about creating it. We do our best to deal with life’s challenges and hope that’s good enough to make us happy. Sometimes, though, our behavior doesn’t make us content.
We might also rely on the people in our close social circle to help us create wellness. If we’re lucky, they do. Often, however, we can’t depend on others to make sure we are all right. They are too busy with their own health issues and emotional challenges to prioritize ours.
The best way to create well-being is by managing our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors so they drive us toward health and contentment.
Five key areas of life that influence well-being
Physical
Emotional
Social
Spiritual
Self-fulfillment
Take care of your physical health
It’s essential to eat healthy foods, get enough sleep, and exercise if you want to enjoy well-being. An occasional food treat, late night, or inactive pajama day won’t hurt you. Carrying out harmful behaviors often, however, will dent your well-being.
Look after your emotional health
Good emotional health comes from mental balance. If you are distraught or go through a lengthy period of upheaval, your mental health will plummet.
You’re built to withstand occasional high stress levels, and a small amount of regular stress can push you to improve life. You aren’t made to withstand long-term stress, however.
When you find yourself in stressful, lasting circumstances, take time out for extra self-care. Walk in the countryside and engage in a mindful exercise like tai chi or yoga. Get creative too. Write in a journal or paint a picture to help you deal with your emotions.
Boost healthy connectivity
Science tells us connectivity is important if we are to enjoy good mental well-being and longevity, so maintain close relationships. Meet new people too.
Keep in touch with pals and eat or carry out a hobby together once a week. Join an evening class, mingle at social events, and take part in local community projects if you’ve the time and enthusiasm.
Spend less time with toxic people and more with folks who lift rather than send your spirits crashing.
Remember well-being includes spiritual fulfillment
Science also tells us it’s important to believe in something, a greater power. Whether you have faith in God, Buddha, nature, or something else, you will be happier than someone who thinks they are alone in the universe with no purpose in life.
Work on self-fulfillment
Self-fulfillment is about doing what you love, following your dreams, and making sure you satisfy your needs. Figure out what you most want from life and work toward achieving it.
Perhaps a happy family life means the world to you. Or you want to help the planet or animals. Maybe you long to write a book, record a song, or travel. Look inside your heart and take care of your dreams because no one else can do that on your behalf.
Indeed, you’re the only person who can make sure your well-being is healthy. Rather than depend on someone else, or circumstances to shift you to greater happiness, take control. Steer your life toward health and contentment and your well-being will stay strong.
