Welcome to the Library Olympics!
Events Include Cart Racing, Synchronized Stamping and Speed Weeding

If there were a Library Olympics, what would be the best events?
As it turns out, the Library Olympics isn’t a new idea. Several libraries have actually held them, and they’ve also been mentioned in books like Call Numbers: The Not so Quiet Life of Librarians. I consulted those and did a little additional online research (I asked for suggestions from my favorite Facebook library group) to come up with the following list of Library Olympics events:
Speed Weeding
Cart Racing
The Stephen King Book Toss
Fastest Check-in of a Full Book Drop Competition
Synchronized Stamping
Holds List Relay Races
Newspaper Rod Fencing
Competitive Copier Toner Changing
“What’s This Weird Stain?” Analysis Event
Successfully Emptying the Library By Closing Time Competition
Competitive Journal Shredding
Most Accurate Enlargement of Small Item to the Desired Size on a Copy Machine Event
Locating Books with Blue Covers Whose Authors Were Recently Interviewed on NPR Race
Most Creative Retort to the claim of “I Pay Your Salary” Competition
Cart dancing — Pairs, Solo and Group
Highest Number of Patrons With Password Issues Helped In A Set Amount of Time
Highest Energy Storytime
Rude Patron Pole Vault
Most Successful Attempt to Convince a Patron to Check Out an Author Other than James Patterson
