Summary

The provided web content introduces a writing challenge centered on the theme of betrayal in love, inviting authors to explore the transformation of love into hate through fiction.

Abstract

The webpage presents the third weekly writing challenge for February, with a focus on the theme "Love/Hate." It prompts writers to craft stories that delve into the darker side of love, specifically the act of betrayal. Participants are encouraged to write fictional narratives that illustrate the painful process of love turning into hate, emphasizing the betrayal of a loved one. The challenge requires stories to be between 100 to 1000 words, to include "Betrayal" as one of the five tags, and to link back to the prompt for visibility. The content also provides an example story and suggests tags such as "Fiction" and "Flash Fiction" for the submissions.

Opinions

  • The theme suggests that the most intense form of hate often stems from a betrayal of love.
  • The challenge implies that the act of betrayal can be a pivotal moment in a narrative, leading to significant consequences and a new normal for the characters involved.
  • The use of imagery and the inclusion of an example story serve to inspire potential participants and set a tone for the type of content expected.
  • The requirement to link back to the prompt indicates a desire to create a community around the challenge and facilitate the discovery of new writers within the theme.
  • The mention of a "wishless genie" and the metaphor of a "broken doll" convey the destructive and irreversible impact of betrayal on relationships and individuals.

Weekly Prompt: The Betrayal

Nows when it all goes to hell, the knife slides in and twists.

Welcome to the third weekly challenge for February, where our theme is twisting Love into Hate or back the other way:

The broken promise.

The Lie. The Real Truth.

Explosively unleashed and irreversibly expelled. A wishless genie with the power only to shatter lives and ruin dreams.

You have your Beast and your Beauty. You’ve had your two weeks of love. Your honeymoon.

Now it’s time to ram in the knife and twist. In the back as a surprise, cowardly and unkind? Or in the gut, cold-eyed and soulless?

Who is the broken doll afterwards? Is it one of our lovers, or is it a third? Is it poison on the lips or venom in the ears?

The most potent hate often comes from love betrayed.

This is the twist, after this comes the End.

The consequences and the new normal.

Challenge Requirements

Your story must:

  1. Tell us a fictional story related to Betrayal of a Loved One.
