Summary

The website content describes a weekly writing challenge focused on the theme of "Beauty" as part of a month-long exploration of Love and Hate, inviting writers to submit stories that interpret the concept in various ways.

Abstract

The webpage outlines the second weekly challenge for February, with the theme centered around the concept of "Beauty." This challenge is part of a larger exploration of the duality between Love and Hate, which began with the theme of "Love/Hate" and will continue with "The Betrayal" and "The End" in subsequent weeks. Participants are encouraged to delve into the multifaceted nature of beauty, whether it be an inspiring idea, a person, a place, or an abstract notion that can both tame and inflame. The challenge requires submissions to be fictional stories ranging from 100 to 1000 words, tagged with "Beauty" and linked back to the prompt for visibility. The page also provides examples and encourages support for the initiative through donations.

Weekly Prompt: The Beauty

This week we continue our Love Fest with the entrancing one.

Welcome to the second weekly challenge for February, where our theme is twisting Love into Hate or back the other way:

In contrast to the Beast we have Beauty.

The hopeful idealist. The untamed beauty, the wilderness, wide open and healing. A cauldron of trial and reward.

The great unknown that calls to the rugged and restless heart, that captures and ensnares a whole manner of beasts.

The Beauty is within or without.

A person, a place, or a thing.

Art can move us to tears. And the Grail to madness.

Your beauty could be inspiration, an idea, the Twelve Steps or a naïve young girl called Belle.

Literal definition: beautiful girl

But then again, there’s hardly any twist to that.

Your beauty could be in the fiending eyes of the beholder. Smashing the world for a few crumpled notes and a moment of bliss.

Beauty could be anything. And it could tame or inflame The Beast.

This is Week 2 of the Love side of the coin. Remember what’s coming in the following two weeks — the Hate side — The Betrayal and The End.

Challenge Requirements

Your story must:

  1. Tell us a fictional story related to the secret.
  2. Be min 100 and max 1000 words long, excluding the title, subtitle, and any post-story bio/links. (We use Medium’s own word count feature.)
  3. Use “Beauty” as one of your five tags. We recommend Fiction, Flash Fiction and maybe your genre too. But it’s your choice.
  4. Please link back to the prompt so others can find it easily.
