We Should Be Queens
Inspired by my reaction to Chhaupadi by Anish Lamichhane, MD
The natural passing from a girl To woman has too long Been a curse From the time women hid their power In caves To even now Where some hide them away In unclean places Victim of isolation Discomfort, disease, and death
There is already so much fear And pain
Let women sit instead in pristine rooms with room service And a private clean washroom With a heated jacuzzi And heating pads in all sizes And wine. Vintage wine And a crown with the most beautiful jewels And all the company or privacy She wants
This is my own response to my first Vagabond Roads Prompt to encourage new writers.
