100 WORDS
We Don’t Talk About Those Things
Thrifty Words 100 Challenge #12: Fiat
“I brought you into this world, I can take you out.” Emma heard that on The Bill Cosby Show. She heard worse from Dad.
The most salacious thing was spoken by her mother though. Emma had no idea about its importance until recently. She’d asked many questions when she was younger, naturally curious about pre-Emma parent life, or whatever she needed to know.
Her mother’s favorite phrase (which she now claims not to remember ever saying) was “Are you writing a book? Leave that chapter out.”
The edict: Quit your questions.
Emma asked the Internet in 2018. Hoo-boy!
Filed under ‘truth is stranger than fiction’. It’s funny how a simple word will pretzel the brain into strange fantasies. Not that ‘fiat’ is a simple word, per se. Thanks to Jonica Bradley for her curiosity and studies that take us prowling into new worlds!
