Journalists and activists imprisoned — Zimbabwe, Uganda, Nigeria, Togo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Cameroon, Eritrea, Mali, Burundi, Rwanda.
In Uganda, Bobi Wine under house arrest for challenging the rigged elections.
The African Union remains silent. Presidential dinosaurs say we must respect a country’s sovereignty.
Time for the youth to rise!
Backstory
The outcome of the Ugandan elections was predictable. When opposition parties and their associates are beaten, thrown in jail — even killed — then you know democracy is dead.
Events in the US pale by comparison.
Leaders on the African continent and elsewhere exercise crackdowns on freedom under the pretext of dealing with the pandemic. But it’s not for the people’s protection — the sole purpose is suppression.
Three-quarters of the population of Africa is under the age of 35. High unemployment, low incomes, and poor education will lead to the youth spilling out into the streets demanding to be heard.
The old guard cannot contain them forever.
Viva the revolution!
