We All Have Two Lives. The Second One Starts When We Discover Keanu Reeves
A filmography story

The following story includes 51 movie titles taken from Keanu Reeves’ filmography.
“Did you follow the white rabbit again?”
“Yes, a cool breeze took me over the mountains.¹”
It was a wild ride. Here’s what happened.
The last time I committed suicide, I wasn’t a youngblood flying over the river’s edge anymore.
The night before, I had ended all my dangerous liaisons with John Wick, the prince of Pennsylvania. “I love you to death; you’re my own private Idaho,” he told me before he freaked out and took a walk in the clouds.
I thought I would be ok, but the speed of the chain reaction took me by surprise. I couldn’t ride this point break. Thankfully, the little Buddha in my head didn’t play hardball. “Even cowgirls get the blues,” it said, “tune in tomorrow.”
As I woke up to a sweet November morning at the lake house, I was still feeling Minnesota. And the more I played the devil’s advocate, the more I felt stuck in the matrix.
“Knock, knock,” said the watcher when he brought me the gift box that would change everything.
Parenthood had never been easy for me. After getting me pregnant, Henry’s father went to Siberia, destination wedding with Pippa Lee. Henry wasn’t born, and his father was already gone. “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee and Tai Chi Man” would be a good title for their life story.
A story that never included Henry.
No matter the replacements and replicas I brought home, Henry remained fatherless, a member of the bad batch, as his high school principal said. Henry was already a member of the street kings by then. He called himself the neon demon.
The gift box contained a permanent record of Henry stealing 47 ronin statuettes from Johnny Mnemonic, and then beating Johnny to a pulp, leaving him one step away from death. Learning about Henry’s crime was too much for me.
On top of the shame, I knew Constantine Wick, John’s brother, would write a thumbsucker out of this much ado about nothing event. I knew Constantine wouldn’t hesitate to tell the whole truth, and Henry would be exposed to the bone.
And I couldn’t stand it.
Sometimes something’s gotta give way. This time it was my sanity. That day was the day the earth stood still for me.
