Water Music

The Music – of birds, shells, stars, epiphanies – entrances me. But water’s Harmonies outdo even Handel’s or The Beach Boys,

whether the refrain – a cappella or accompanied – spills from the sky, a rim of rock, the marble mouth of a god, fish, or cherub or from the Surf’s rising and lessening as instructed by the moon

before it rests, bequeathing Its glittering glissando’s shadow to the shore, where indissoluble sand-happy castles of gratitude keep the peace.
