And more resources to help you publish and earn on Medium

We just finished up our second batch of free workshops for Medium creators. If you joined us, thank you! In total, over 1,700 creators logged onto Zoom to work on their writing and connect with our team. We discussed how to self-edit, how to monetize your work on Medium, and much more. If you couldn’t make it, don’t worry — we’ll be hosting more workshops in the future (we’ll announce them on Creators Hub soon).

Here’s a brief rundown of our most recent slate of workshops, and a recording of each one:

Immediately Improve Any Story: Let’s Make Your Draft or Published Post Even Better

In this session, we share five questions to ask yourself before pressing “Publish.” We know “revision” can feel intimidating, as a concept, but it really doesn’t have to be. Start by walking yourself through this checklist to quickly improve any draft. For the Cliff’s Notes from this workshop, head here.

Your Guide to Monetization on Medium: Getting Paid for the Stories You Publish and the Audiences You Build

Medium team leads Scott Lamb and Ashley Simon break down exactly how creators can earn money for their work — beginning with applying to the Partner Program, all the way to taking advantage of Referred Memberships and more. Here’s a written summary of the basics.

Write What You Know: Turn Your Professional Experience Into Stories Readers Want

Many writers turn to Medium to share their knowledge and expertise in a specific subject area — like data science, programming, and business (just to name a few). In this session, Medium Creator Relations team members Kate Green Tripp and Kaushik Viswanath offer advice on translating the unique expertise you’ve gathered throughout your work (and life) into stories. Here’s a written recap.

Write With Us: An Hour of Dedicated Writing Time for Medium Creators

No recording for this one! That’s because we simply spent this hour writing together. Here are the highlights. This went so well (and was such a blissful hour of uninterrupted writing time for everyone involved, including us) that we’ll be announcing more free writing hours very soon.

As always, thank you for joining us, and thank you for being on Medium. We hope these workshops inspired you to turn that story idea, outline, or half-written draft gathering dust in a folder on your laptop into a new Medium post worth sharing. At the very least, we hope you were able to pick up some tips worth trying in the future.

Got an idea for a great workshop we should host in the future? Let us know in the responses (seriously, we want your ideas).

We’ll be back soon with more events and opportunities for writers — and you can always find helpful tips, tricks, ideas, and advice for creators of all stripes in Creators Hub.
