I always had a cheap laptop and will now buy a more expensive one

Initial cost vs. long-term cost
I believe that you don’t really have more costs with a cheap laptop, only that it doesn’t last as long as a MacBook.
Impact on productivity, creativity, and success
I would say it depends on what you are doing; of course, it is generally slower. Where I notice it the most is when editing YouTube videos; it takes a lot of time.
The Downsides of Using a Cheap Laptop
Limited lifespan
Of course, the limited lifespan is a downside, but it is not so big. I had my last laptop for 5 years and it still works.
Lack of performance
Of course the perfomence is not so good but for only work, it should be fine.
The only issue is with things that need lots of RAM. Thus you can not play popular video games on the laptop, like Fortnite or COD.
Alternatives to Cheap Laptops
For me, there are 3 main options. First, to buy a better laptop; second, to buy a gaming PC; and lastly, to buy a MacBook. I myself want to buy a MacBook for university, and it will also be easier to edit the videos.
Benefits of investing in a high-quality laptop
Benefits include better performance and a longer lifespan. The MacBook also has a very big battery, so you can work for a long time.
Conclusion
Cheap laptops can be a good deal, but the have some negative effects. Like the lack of performance for things like editing and not so good battery. Alternatives are PCs or a Macbook. So it depends on what you are doing with your laptop.
It was worth to have cheap laptops in the past and now buy a Macbook because of things like editing.
