I sit. The fear creeps in. Little tendrils that swell with time. They grow as I sit. Fat and juicy on the doubt that seeps in. The battle? How much to tell. How deep to delve. Drip, drip, drip. The seeping, creeping fear. Uncertainty. Doubt. Layers of it. a never-ending fog.

Pling!

Words. Lights, twinkly and bright. Small wonders! Words on a screen, they ignite and inspire. Word-flames of hope, of light, of encouragement. Tenderly given, sweetly accepted. They work their way in, burrow and spread. A warmth. Pushing. Pushing back black tendrils of fear. Smoothing my worried brow of indecision. Lighting the darkest of nights.

I wrote this in response to Gretchen Lee Bourquin’s prompt for her wonderful publication, Vagabond Roads. Starting something new takes courage and I am glad that Gretchen’s courage led me to her and this publication. I have enjoyed sharing my poetry here. A tentative foot out into this world that feels so new and bright. I am so grateful for the feedback I have received from people but in particular the feedback (links below) for my poem synesthesia.

So thank you Dennett, Captain Argentina and Heather Huffman 💙 for your kind words of encouragement 💖 And thank you Gretchen for publishing my poetry.
