Wandering Around the Alps is Amazing
And being able to capture the magic

Photos are the memories of one’s soul.
I make a lot of them. Especially when I’m traveling. I love to capture the beautiful images and landscapes I encounter. This way they don’t get lost and I can share them with you for example.
Last month I was in Switzerland with my sister.
We went by train and it was fantastic. At the beginning of 2023, I bought an SLR camera. Finally, I can take pictures of my travels in a professional way. It is a Canon EOS M50m2.
Photos taken with your phone sometimes just lack some depth. Especially with landscapes and nature images.
Two photos I’m proud of, for example, are these:

These photos were taken in Zermatt, just before the Matterhorn mountain (which looks like the Toblerone).
The photos look similar but were shot from a different angle.
Also, they both had different filters applied in Adobe Lightroom. What I love about this image is how the clouds above the Matterhorn blend in so much with the mountain.
That gives it that extra something to enjoy.

And by using different lenses, it became possible to capture the mountain in several ways.
Much better than would have been the case if I had used my iPhone.
The Eiger Glacier Hike
We also went hiking from the Eiger Glacier down to a village. It was a beautiful setting and I knew that beautiful images could be shot there.
At these altitudes, with these beautiful views, they had to be beautiful.

The moment we stepped out of the cable car onto the summit of the Eiger, I knew it would be beautiful.
I saw snow; it exists.

Then the hike began.
We figured out the route to Alpiglen. This was about 6 kilometers that would take us 3 hours (including breaks). Surprisingly, this was fairly accurate.
It was quite a tough descent. But we also had to go back up several times, which was tough. It was all worth it though.
Look at these incredibly cute cows we came across.

And with my good zoom lens, it was so nice to be able to capture them up close without actually getting close to the cows. Partly because there were all these people around them, but also because we didn’t want to scare them.
We finally had to pass them and as we continued walking I noticed the battery was running low.
Bummer.
I’m glad I had already taken enough nice pictures but this was a bit of a pain because how often do you get to such a beautiful place?
P.S. When we arrived in Alpiglen, we couldn’t resist to take this picture. 👇
