Walk with Me
a poem

come and take a walk with me through the desert high
past anthills and dry grass spring flowers a- bloomin’
we will walk slow from the heat
and then run with joy in our hearts
stopping to puff on dandelion puffs
making a wish wishing a dream dreaming to create this creation
we will walk and whistle whistle while we walk
hum a tune that comes to us
til we get to the river gently flowing quietly gurgling more music to our ears
we will offer some tobacco plant of power and healing
cleansing grandfather of plants we give thanks
the river cleans emotions cleanses the spirit washes away the pain of this life
the river is the blood of the earth
giving life sustaining life full of life
force of nature nature of force
I used to think the desert was dead
it is not
its life is hidden subtle simple yet profound and bountiful

if you pause for a breath you will see
bunnies hopping snakes sunning lizards lizarding
I take off my shoes and walk barefoot remembering what my brothers from the jungle told me
how to walk with no shoes
have no fear be one with the earth
and when an ant bites me I laugh in the jungle they say
it’s just a kiss an initiation from nature
the sun now casts shadows with its light
art from nature nature is art

Thank you for reading!
