TRAVEL

Visiting These 7 Places Would Make Me So Happy

I’m sharing my travel bucket list!

This is so beautiful! Photo by James Wheeler

Exploring the world has always been a dream of mine. In the past few years, I visited many beautiful countries. I am so grateful for all those opportunities, just like a dream come true.

Sadly, my travel plans came to a rudely abrupt halt for two years. The last trip I took was to Malaysia in February 2020.

When we can travel freely and safely again, here are the places I would love to visit and some things I want to do. I have not researched any specifics, it’s simply where I feel I want to visit.

Here we go, my travel bucket list in no particular order.

01 New Zealand

I’m not a fan of Lord of the Rings, but I am a sucker for beautiful outdoor scenery. New Zealand has no shortage of jaw-dropping places that I could stare at all day.

My mouth is watering as I’m picturing the stunning mountains and parks in my mind

02 Norway, Sweden, Finland

You might start noticing a pattern here. I can’t pass up a chance to witness spectacular beauty.

Maybe I can catch the Northern Lights in Finland or admire the pristine fjords in Norway. And no, the mountains won’t all look the same to me!

03 Elephant Sanctuary

I am not certain where I could visit an elephant sanctuary. I suspect the answer may lie in Thailand. When viewing wild animals, I prefer to see them in their natural habitat and not in a zoo.

It’s a great experience to see wildlife roaming in their own homes.

I’d also love to support an elephant sanctuary where they take care of the gentle giants.

04 Maldives Overwater Bungalows

I’m not a beach person, but those overwater bungalows in the Maldives look good enough to eat! Can I see the turquoise waters and spot some turtles? I’d be in heaven!

05 Machu Picchu

Hiking is one of my favourite things to do! At Machu Picchu, I can hike alongside scenery too magnificent for words? I don’t need to be convinced at all. I’m only worried about the physical toll on my body.

Can I take 4 days and 3 nights of hiking with a heavy bag? That sounds way too tough. I’m honestly not sure!

06 A Temple in Japan

If I could spend a few days at a quiet temple in Japan, I think my stress levels would completely disappear. Bonus points if I can eat vegetarian there and meditate! I can’t imagine waking up every day to complete peace and serenity.

I can say goodbye to traffic jams, city noises, and crowds. Well, at least for a day or two?

07 Yoga Retreat

Similar to a temple in Japan, I would love to eat salad and do yoga for a few days straight. My jumbled mind can perhaps finally sort out all the thoughts and I’d feel less burdened.

Sometimes, people just need time away. There are probably yoga retreats near me, but I would prefer travelling to one. Maybe Costa Rica?

Let me know where you would love to go next! What’s on your list?

I like to keep this travel bucket list and hopefully get around to knocking them off one by one. There’s nothing in the world more amazing than experiencing the world.

Does your list have any common themes with mine?

Oh no! Did you hit that darn 3 story limit again? Get rid of it once and for all by joining Medium. It only costs $5 per month. Since joining and reading more on Medium, I’ve also been earning more money each month. Engagement is important and you can’t do that effectively by reading only 3 stories a month.
