Since this is my first pandemic, I thought I’d offer a few tips for online entrepreneurs. The above quote is where it starts for me as I think about navigating these days. And it starts with managing yourself:

  1. Manage Yourself — This is the most difficult task of all, right? Here are a few tips:
  • Find a few reassuring and focusing quotes to hold on to, like the one above. Say them to yourself, say them to others. Put them up where you’ll see them.
  • Don’t you dare go this alone. Lean into your support group and create one if you don’t have one.

2. Take Care of Your Tribe — Your community is looking to you for leadership. Your community is looking to you for hope. Deliver it. Here’s a few suggestions:

  • Create a low cost or no cost training that helps now and sets your tribe up for success when this passes (and it will…).
  • “Go Live” often to give your community a sense of belonging to something greater than themselves.

3. Get into Action — Sitting around fretting does not help. The best email opening I ever read came from one of my mentors, Dan Kennedy:

“If you consume a steady diet of online and cable news, you’ll wind up curled up in a corner of the shower with a bottle of Jack Daniels, mewling…”

Never have these words been more true!

Do something! Here’s a few suggestions:

  • Create content
  • Finish that website
  • Create a low or no cost training for your tribe.
  • Start a podcast
  • Start a live cast
  • You know that course you bought but it turned into “shelf-help?” Finish it!
  • If you wanna do something really nuts, call up a few of your clients and ask: “How can I help you today?”

This is gonna pass. Where would you like to be standing when it does?
