Vacation
A Poem
Vacation does not always mean relaxation, or rest, or positive every second
it sometimes means exhaustion, tension, aching feet, sore legs, confusion, crying kids,
it means finding those moments of family joy and memory making accidentally, not by force or design, not by hook or by crook —
it means wondering and wandering into spaces and places that might just open up,
open up enough to let connection in, mystery in, creating a shared experience, brief respite, brief downtime, brief glances of
enjoyment and delight found in between
the walking the crowds the aching the tired the crying kids
vacation means out of routine, out of the ordinary we can make it magical only by not trying
