Don’t throw out your college rule spiral binder books until you’ve removed the wire that holds the paper together

Upcycle Spiral Binder Wire

Once you’ve used all the paper from your college rule book, remove the wire and transform it into a gorgeous ornament.

If you’re a jewelry maker, you could make this into a bracelet instead.

Instructions

Clip both ends of the wire where it has been twisted into a loop.

Turn the wire until it releases from the paper. You could cut the paper off too.

Twist the wire on one end to form a loop. This will help you keep the beads on the wire, and they won’t run off the bottom end as you thread beads on the top end.

I used small glass beads in orange, gold, and bronze and thread them onto the wire in a color sequence — red, gold, bronze, repeat.

Once all the wire is completely covered with beads, twist the wire at the end to close it off.

Now add a ribbon to the joined wire space, and your ornament is complete.

Perhaps you could hang an additional bauble or dangle to the bottom center of the ornament to add some extra interest or theme it.
