sweet in taste soft in touch brown in color crunchy in bite round in shape
rice flour, roasted-coconut, jaggery, banana, and spices all rolled into a ball shape and fried in oil
offered in temples as sacred food —God’s gift — Prasadam
a visit to the temple was not a loss as I was offered one free “Unniyappam” — warm soft delicious — and a possible poem
Uniyappam is yet to leave my tastebuds I can feel the pieces in my throat a glass of water might clear it along with the traces of its presence until I am served it next time
