Unity is Strength
Previous Action Items

Unity is Strength is a Quora.com forum that started in 2019, focusing on areas where Palestinians and Israelis can work together in a grassroots fashion to support one another. Our goal is to identify specific action items and achieve them. Here are our action items to date.
- Action Item #11: Improve Quora’s coverage and analysis of Lebanese culture, Lebanese history, and the social issues Lebanon faces. Identify gainful ways to help Lebanon. Status: New forum Lebanon: Tripoli to Tyre was created, remains active, and promotes Lebanon and how to help.
- Action Item #10: Clean Up Twitter. Status: New forum Clean Up Twitter was created and remains active, with over 22,500 followers and 1.5 million views.
- Action Item #9: Speaker Series. Status: We began to support speaker events. Recordings of some of our early events are available at the Action Item link.
- Action Item #8: Discuss and raise awareness of federation solutions. Status: Then-Contributor (now Moderator) Emanuel Shahaf gave an external talk through FEDBytes and the forum held a discussion of federation solutions, as described in the Action Item link. Emanuel and Admin Rebecca Sealfon co-authored a piece “Don’t Be Fooled by Israel’s New Treaties, Annexation Will Continue” that was selected to be featured in the Medium.com publication Dialogue & Discourse and distributed to more people on Medium. The piece was also published in LevantX.
- Action Item #7: Let’s discuss peace! Status: A Unity is Strength group is now active on WhatsApp. A select few of the top writers with especially multilateralist views of Israel-Palestine are currently being invited, especially if they have an existing connection to the Middle East and North Africa region.
- Action Item #6: Raise money for an organization that inspired this Space. Status: Nearly $600 raised, including donations from Quorans Gail Ellis, Elsa Zhou, Nancy Dills, Lucienne Canet, Idan Solon, Lior Zamir, and Matt Lucks. Thank you.
- Action Item #5: Develop a full Unity is Strength Code of Conduct. Status: Developed and written up here. I believe the guidelines have substantially improved the quality of content.
- Action item #4: Support science. Status: In November 2019, Mr. Ubai Aboudi received an administrative trial. Our petition on his behalf received nearly 250 signatures. We closed it after we learned he would be released in November 2020.
- Action item #3 (Revised): Improve Quora’s coverage and analysis of the September 17 Israeli election and its results. Status: Netanyahu and Gantz agreed to form a unity government.
- Action Item #2: Contact external groups with intent to partner. Status: We are now in contact with several, especially The Federation Movement. Roots/Shorashim/Judur assigned intern Sylvie Hodes to write for Unity is Strength.
- Action Item #1: Recruit the best Quorans to post on the Space. Status: Thank you. We have lots of excellent writers now, making high-quality contributions. We are now recruiting people notable outside Quora, especially in areas related to Israel-Palestine activism.
