Unemotional, Derogatory Names of Abortion Extremists
Extremists on both sides promote truly awful positions — are you one?

Synopsis
I look at abortion differently than most people:
- Cold, mathematical logic, no emotion - Good programs work, Bad ones don’t
“Pro-choice,” or “pro-life” are great political slogans. If you are on either extreme, you are neither.
Positions
Most people with strong opinions leaning to one extreme or the other rarely see the negative features of their stance. They frequently view those in the middle, and especially those on the opposite extreme, as enemies.
Then, they argue over points that are self-satisfying but don’t have much real impact. Removing the emotion, some positions really are pro-slavery or pro-murder. Here’s how:
Reality
Here is the reality of each extreme position on abortion:
- People 100% against abortions or want to make them nearly impossible are pro-slavery (look up the definition) in violation of the 13th amendment.
- People risking the mother’s life or wishing an obviously deformed baby to be born are sadists.
- If you want a choice to abort far into the pregnancy when the healthy baby could easily live outside the womb without heroic medical support, then you are pro-murder.
- Legislators who are writing medical decisions into law are practicing medicine without a license and should be arrested.
- Strong, anti-abortion laws just don’t work. They drive people underground into dangerous situations.
Some of these terms have been thrown around, but not in this context.
There are many more anti-abortion extremists than there are people who want women to have 100% choice throughout the entire pregnancy to the point of partial-birth abortions on demand.
The church wields a big impact, in violation of the Separation of Church and State doctrine.
What should the law say?
The only real point of discussion for the non-fanatics is: “Where is the cutoff point?” At what point does a woman lose 100% control of her own body?
About 4 1/2 months, or 19 weeks, from the last menstrual cycle would be plenty in normal cases. It would allow for a skipped period, though making a choice would be a little tight. It also allows for the time between the starting point and the actual conception. So, it is not as long as it sounds.
The law must also allow for an abortion after the cutoff point for reasonable medical problems. Maybe a second opinion would be required in non-emergency situations and random peer reviews could be performed as a learning tool.
Extremes need to be avoided there, too. Like refusing to do one when the mother’s life is in danger, or the mother is a 10-year-old rape victim.
A second-half abortion would have to be an obvious malpractice case to get the law involved.
Time for sanity to prevail
Laws need to be written to match reality, instead of emotional hype. Maybe overturning Roe-v-Wade will push the country in that direction.
However, I don’t think the states can handle the problem. That was an error on the court’s part. Hopefully, it will return to the federal level and things will settle down soon.
