Ukraine War
Ukraine: Dangerous Russian Rhetoric
There’s a lot more talk using the ’N’ word in the Russian media and elsewhere

There’s more talk these days in the Russian news channels which use the ’N’ word.
Nuclear.
Madness.
First off, Dmitry Medvedev, now Prime Minister of the Russian Federation (or what’s left of it).
“If the West provides Ukraine with nuclear weapons, “it will be necessary to launch a preemptive strike [on NATO countries]”, Medvedev said.
According to him, the Anglo-Saxons do not fully realize this and believe that it will not come to this: “It will come, under certain conditions”. — Ukraine War Intel News
‘If’ is a big word. Under what conditions could he conceivably imagine that the West would put nuclear weapons in Ukraine’s hands?
Medvedev was once the Russian President, then the Prime Minister and now deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia since 2020. Maybe I misspelled his name. Dim-i-try.
A backward career trajectory.
No wonder Putin replaced him. But Putin’s gone mad too.
And now Mad Vlad (yes they have several) Solovyov in his Evening talk show on Russia1 is using the N word again.

Solovyov wanted to test the Poseidon on England. It might work, it’s a torpedo. They wouldn’t use the Kinzhal would they, they get shot down? Then one of his guests suggested hitting the USS Gerald R Ford (currently in Norway).
We might laugh, but much of the Russian population listens to this crap.
Fortunately, some of the panelists thought that Solovyov was deluded. I do hope they get to talk to Mad Vlad #1 in the Kremlin.
This is all in a week when
- we saw Russia moving nuclear weapons from Gravyron into a forest, apparently in a panic as a cross-border incursion by Free Russia elements took place
- Lukashenko said that Russia was going ahead with deployment of nuclear weapons on his Belarus territory (did he have a choice)?
- the USS Gerald R Ford supercarrier strike group visits Oslo for exercises

Russia might well go nuclear in Ukraine, which is not a NATO country. They could get away with it. And maybe make everyone stop and think. Or respond.
And now:
‼️ The Russian occupiers are preparing large-scale provocations to create a center of radiation danger, — Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine
In the coming hours, militants are preparing a large-scale provocation to simulate an accident at the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
For this, a strike will be held directly on the territory of the ZNPP. After that, an emergency leak of radioactive substances will be announced. Ukraine will traditionally be blamed for the incident.
In order to hide their actions as much as possible, the Russians disrupted the rotation of the permanent monitoring mission of the IAEA scheduled for today.
The purpose of this action is to provoke the international community to conduct a detailed investigation, during which all hostilities will be stopped. In this way, the Russians hope to get the desired pause, which will be used to regroup the occupation contingent and stop the Ukrainian counteroffensive. — United24Media
It’s not a prospect I relish.
Solovyov sees the end in sight for Russia and that desperate measures are called for.
Medvedev plays his Dim-i-try part.
And now we have the Russian Ambassador to the UK on 27 May:
Speaking exclusively to the BBC, Mr Kelin warned of a “new dimension” in the war.
Insisting Russia “hasn’t just started yet to act very seriously”, the ambassador said “Russia is 16 times bigger than Ukraine. We have enormous resources.”
The length of the conflict, he said, “depends on the efforts in escalation of war that is being undertaken by Nato countries, especially by the UK”.
He added: “Sooner or later, of course, this escalation may get a new dimension which we do not need and we do not want. We can make peace tomorrow.”
Delusion persists on the Russian side.
I fear that developments are ratcheting up.
After several years stuck overseas while Covid raged and a few other things got in the way, I’m about to return to the UK. And I’m wondering…
