Summary

The website content outlines the two types of employment certificates issued in Finland: concise and comprehensive, detailing their purposes and the information they contain.

Abstract

In Finland, employment documentation is meticulously managed, with two main types of employment certificates available to individuals upon the conclusion of their employment. The concise certificate provides essential details such as the employee's name, ID, employment duration, position, and duties, along with the employer's signature and contact information. In contrast, the comprehensive certificate includes additional information like the reason for termination, performance ratings, work skills, and behavior assessments. These certificates serve as crucial evidence for employment history, aiding individuals in their future job applications and career progression. The article also emphasizes Finland's stringent documentation practices and encourages readers to explore more about Finnish employment culture through additional linked resources.

Employment in Finland is taken very seriously from a bureaucratic point of view as well as a regulatory.

In Finland, every little piece of information is documented. I’ve written about my frustrations in this piece:

Once you end your employment with a company or organization, you can request an employment certificate that is issued by your employer and serves as evidence for your employment period.

It essentially has at hand once you want to apply for other employment positions or have it as a reference.

There are two types of employment certificates: concise and comprehensive.

Concise Employment Certificate

The concise certificate features basic information such as employee name

  • Employee ID
  • Duration of employment
  • Position
  • Duties
  • Signed and dated by the employer and includes employer’s name, company name, address, and contact number.

Comprehensive Employment Certificate

In addition to all the information above, the comprehensive certificate is an in-depth certificate that features :

  • Reason for termination
  • Rating
  • Work skills
  • Behavior

Below are examples of each type of employment certificate.

They may look different than the ones issued as some employees prefer a basic text version.

I created these as an example to show the difference between the two types of unemployment certificates.

The Benefits Of The Employment Certificate

  • Allows you to get a record of your employment history for personal or career goals.
  • Super helpful for applying for your next job as it can serve as a documented reference
