This is a continuation of The Burned Village, a ‘choose your own’ fiction story, “drabble edition”. Head back to the previous instalment, ‘As the Army Departs’. Find out how to join in by clicking here.

You don’t like heights, and the thought of following the orcs into the mines terrifies you.

Frustrated, you wander back through the rocks, realizing that your only option is to find Dara and ask for her help once again.

Perhaps she’ll know what to do.

But as you crest a rise, it’s not Dara that you see, or an orc…

It’s a goddamn ferocious grizzly bear!!!

You step back, hoping that it hasn’t noticed you. But its head swings in your direction. Behind lies only caves — and it could outpace you to the ladder.

It is now moving your way…

Continue.
