Trump Supporters Will End Up Rotting Like They Deserve
The ideology of radical right wing nationalists is a philosophy of defeat

The last time I spoke to my Trump supporting cousin, he made a casual comment that provided me with a chilling insight into his state of mind.
This was in December of 2020. At that point, the results of the presidential election were not in doubt. All the states had certified the results, and the only thing that remained was the rubber stamp congressional certification.
On the phone, however, my cousin was still acting like the outcome was still in question. To make matters worse, he was trying to present the case as if his position was completely reasonable. “If it turns out it’s Biden, I’ll abide by that, if it turns out that it’s Trump, I expect others to abide by that too.”
His declaration of how he would act was a threat. It was a command that I better act accordingly… or else.
But as with all bullies, his argument has crumbled with time. Today, he’s alone and reaping the consequences for supporting a fraud and a liar. He made his choice, now it’s time for him to fade away.
Open to destructive influence
My cousin likes to have political conversations with his more militant older brother. I knew that was where his position on the 2020 election had come from, and I knew I had to respond.
“It’s over,” I said. “It’s Biden. Biden won. The states have certified the result. There’s no uncertainty.” I said. “Trump lost.”
The thing about Trump supporters is that they always have an aggressive counter argument ready.
“It’s not over until the congressional certification,” he said.
Now that we know that Trump supporters were planning to steal the 2020 election through a violent and deadly attack on the Capitol, I think about that comment and I wonder just how much he knew. I don’t listen to right-wing propaganda media. How widespread and orchestrated were the calls to violence? I haven’t talked to him since that day so I haven’t had the opportunity to ask.
As I’ve reflected on this conversation over the last year, I’ve noticed that there are layers upon layers of dishonesty. Perhaps the most terrifying part was that my cousin was convinced that he was on the side of reason. He was trying to establish that if he lost, he would do the right thing, therefore the other side better act that way or there would be consequences.
The thing is, he was wrong. His side didn’t take the higher road when facts proved beyond a doubt that they had lost. The authoritarian mindset always plays out like this. People who say, “You better do as I say or it will go bad for you,” never hold themselves to their declared standard of behavior. In fact, they only go into lectures on how you should behave so they have a justification for the violence they are planning.
“I warned you. I warned you not to do it. But you did it anyway, and now you’re laying in a puddle of your own blood regretting what you did.”
The right wing radical nationalists have a whole series of psychological tricks they use to work themselves up to committing acts of violence. It’s fundamental to their ideology. This way of thinking makes violence inevitable, and no matter what the consequences, they always insist that their actions are justified.
Radical right wing nationalists still haven’t figured out that they’ve been used
Politicians and members of the media are getting closer to labeling the insurrectionists as the terrorists that they are, but you still find some articles that absurdly refer to them as “political prisoners.”
I don’t expect Trump to go to jail even though I feel that’s what he deserves. That’s not the way America works. Rich people spend all their energy sabotaging our system of public education in order to create an ignorant population that’s easy to control. They steal pensions. They keep wages low to make people desperate. Then they brainwash the ignorant, desperate masses with lies and send them off to commit acts of violence.
When the dust has cleared, it’s the delusional masses that did the bidding of evil men that’s held accountable, but never the rich and powerful that incited the action.
That being the case, at some point you’d expect the Trump supporters who are rotting in jail to turn against the liars that urged them to destroy their lives. Imagine being one of those people who is sitting in jail a year after January 6th defiantly holding onto the belief that you are in the right. There are many people like that, and the corrupt right wing media is only too happy to give them a platform.
“I am so disappointed in Trump for canceling his January 6th press conference,” [Edward Jacob] Lang said during the call-in interview, where he noted that he was on the brink of crying as he urged Trump to step up and fight for the defendants, like himself, who have been charged for their roles in the riot nearly one year ago.
“It just shows how far we have fallen,” he continued, “where is our rally tomorrow?” He added that “there should be a hundred thousand people in D.C. tomorrow at the very minimum…I am so disappointed with Trump and the American people at large that just do not get behind the January 6 political prisoners.” — Zachary Petrizzo
Trump left them to rot.
Some of us warned you that’s what he would do. Some of us warned you back in 2016. Anyone who has ever held a job recognizes Donald Trump’s personality. The narcissistic bully who criticizes everything you do and steals credit for all of your hard work.
We were right. You were wrong. It’s obvious. It’s been obvious this whole time.
You’re not “political prisoners” you’re terrorists. The people who still support Trump, the people who still fly his flags in front of their homes or proudly display his bumper stickers on their vehicles, those people are delusional.
Ignominy is their destiny
What we’re seeing now, for those that choose to acknowledge it, is the ultimate result of tolerating the radical mindset of right-wing nationalism that Trump leveraged into a failed coup. Defeat is inevitable.
It’s unlikely that Trump will ever be arrested, but he cannot escape his destiny. Look at him. Just look at him. Look at his perpetual scowl. Look at the way his wife clearly detests his company. Look at the embarrassing antics of his children. Would you want a life like that?
He’s such a petty man that he thinks the ultimate satisfaction of existence can be achieved from squatting each morning upon a golden toilet.
From the outside looking in, you can see that there’s no warmth in his life. There’s no joy. There’s just a thin, artificial veneer of wealth and privilege that’s fundamentally cold, empty, and false.
My Trump supporting cousin once had a family. He had a wife and a daughter. The wife cheated on him and is now happily married to a doctor. He “raised” his daughter by seeing her once a month. Today, he gets drunk in the evening and falls asleep on the couch listening to the television to create the illusion that he’s not alone.
This is a philosophy of rot. It’s a philosophy of decay. They’re wrong about everything. So many of them are like this. They live in broke down homes. They drive rusted vehicles. They endure broken relationships. The only thing that keeps them going is their false pride in their militant obedience to a false, authoritarian, charlatan.
When push comes to shove, that charlatan will abandon them to rot.
Not all of them will be arrested. Not all of them will be sent to jail. But they will all rot. Theirs is a philosophy of rot. They’ve chosen to be a cancer. They cannot escape the consequences of their choice.
Our legal system is not the only authority in the world. There is some justice in life. Evil is punished as it deserves to be. The fools who commit to evil end up punishing themselves.
