June 5th: Do you believe in true love? Why or why not?

My first thought was ‘what does that actually mean?’ So off to Google I went to have read through definitions…Of course, I found a tonne of different definitions ranging from it being a mystical & magical thing that not many experience, to outlining what I would have thought as ‘normal’ relationship goals — commitment, loyalty, loving & caring between two people
When I read the prompt I instantly felt insecure — my partner & I have been together for over 12 years & we have it good & sometimes we have it not so good.
We love each other, have fun together, and are committed… but it doesn't feel like what they portray in the movies — so what does that mean?! Am I wrong?
No, I don’t think I am... I believe that love is subjective, I don't want to compare my real life, my real experiences with feelings of what it should be like…
We are happy most of the time, we laugh a lot & we are each other's biggest supporters.
As parents, (my partner has a daughter from a previous relationship & I had 2 boys from previous relationships), we have been through a lot of hurt & heartache with things our children have faced. So whilst it’s not all champagne & sunsets, we are a family & each other's best friend — is that what true love is?
Not perfect, but no pressure, no control from either of us and an acceptance of who we are — faults & all!
Do I believe in true love? Yes. True love for me is where there is connection, unconditional love & acceptance. It doesn't mean you’ll never disagree or need some time out for yourself, it’s subjective to each of us.
We are constantly growing & changing as individuals, so relationships are also dynamic. True love doesn’t limit those individual changes, we acknowledge & encourage the other person & in this, the connection remains strong & can last a lifetime.
Key Message: True love is unique to each of us, don’t let comparission lessen how you feel about this 💚
