Top 3-Word Power Phrases To Make Your Writing Lethal
Write to harness the mighty power in your pen — Backed by a neurologist’s research and 3 world-famous authors

Words are powerful.
Aren’t they? Writers and readers in the personal development space, this article is for you.
How is your writing making a difference in the reader’s life?
This is a question I find myself asking myself.
- Will it leave my reader better than when they came across my story?
- Will it move the reader to be, do and have better in their life?
- Will it grow their awareness, change their perspective, and impact their life positively?
- Does it invite them to take an action?
I am where I am today thanks to the words I heard over and over from the person who is presumed to be the epitome of mercy, grace and love — my mother. That wasn’t the case for me because my mother was the exact opposite of that person you’d expect in a mother. The words she spoke made me constantly doubt myself, question my abilities, making me the least confident person in the room. I had the worst relationship with myself.
However, existence is proof that it’s not what happens to you that matters. What matters is how you respond to what happens. For that’s the only thing we have control over.
Words have meaning. What has meaning has an impact whether it’s positive or negative.
Knowing this means you can turn your life around no matter what. That’s you having empowered yourself. And then you can empower others. Meaning you have power.
Here’s what’s even more important when you realize your power.
Power has purpose.
We all have power — the power to create and nurture or the power to hurt and cause damage.
If you’re using writing as your chosen medium of expression, how purposeful are you being?
What if you could use the power in your written word to shed light on the inner demons created by thoughts so that the curious reader can look at them from a new perspective?
When done right, your curious reader will no longer be afraid of their emotions.
Here’s the thing. If you have seen this very process unfold within you, you will be able to pen these words.
Your words will have an impact on your life first before they serve a higher purpose.
Of all the people in the world, you are the one you’re going to spend most of your time with. Your thoughts matter. The words you repeat to yourself over and over, consciously or unconsciously become your destiny.
1. Read great people/authors
Here’s why. I’ve read and followed great authors, writers and speakers such as Paulo Coelho, Deepak Chopra and Jordan Peterson. Their work has had a tremendously positive impact on the way I think and lead my life. I have loved reading Paulo Coelho because his stories drew me into the world of faith and possibilities for myself. I remember his words revived my broken spirit. Besides that, I’ve found that the latter two authors have exceptional writing skills.
I’ve also read renowned authors who also have thousands of followers, but their words don’t have much impact. Much rather, they make me put their half-read books down because they make the unbelievable writing mistakes repeatedly, for instance quoting people throughout their book.
Having written my book with a 17x self-published author who coaches people to write and publish their bestseller self-help books, I’m cautious of using quotes. It took me nine months to write my book. Moreover, focused writing for a year made me fall in love with writing. But what I think most certainly happened is it changed my brain. It sharpened my thinking.
Derick David summarizes Peterson’s lessons on writing powerfully quite well in this story.
There are many writers on this powerful platform that have impactful stories to offer, and there are those that lose me because I don’t know where they’re going with their digital ink.
I call this rambling. People ramble for many reason. But what also happens is that people write like they ramble, which diminishes the power of the point they’re trying to make with the words they pen.
2. Quiet your mind
This is something that naturally happens when you write. According to neuroscientist Dr. Claudia Aguirre, writing by hand slows us down and sharpens our creativity. In his book The Seven Spiritual Laws Of Success, Deepak Chopra talks about the how silence, meditation and non-judgement helps you access the law of pure potentiality, which is the field of all possibilities and infinite creativity. The quieter your mind becomes, the more receptive you are to new thoughts and ideas. This is powerful because you find creative solutions to problems. Imagine transferring such a skill to your writing.
Quiet your mind.
A couple days ago, I picked up my pen and began writing in my story. I kept writing as though some invisible force had taken over me. It’s called the stream on consciousness. I wrote non-stop and only looked up when I was done. I had written 12 pages which I converted into a story on medium. Something similar had happened when writing the chapter on shadow work in my book WIRED FOR SELF-LOVE.
Whatever you choose to do to quiet your mind, it will serve you in that you will get to know yourself, your strength and your power. When you write from this space, you will write with conviction.
This space is where I get my download of poems:
We can find our potential and take our power back. We can control our destiny. Deliberately choosing to and consistently exposing yourself to silence and quietude helps you tap into your greater potential and the endless possibilities they could bring you.
3. Know Your Purpose (Why You Write)
Reading, meditation, storytelling and writing over the course of 13 years have rewired my brain to learn to love myself. My life has a purpose that makes me jump out of bed each morning despite the aches and pains of life. I write to share the lessons I learned so that other people can believe in themselves, find their power, the courage to express themselves and bring their dreams and desires into their 3D reality.
The grueling journey of self-love is worth it because of the results I now see in myself and my life in terms of the richness of relationships I have come to treasure. I hope this story helps you not just find the purpose of your written word if you haven’t already, but also refine it.
Why I write, should you feel inspired to follow me
- To build awareness.
- To breathe life into mere existence (in other words, to inspire),
- To create better beliefs that serve us and empower others,
- To demystify darkness,
- To embrace fears and misgivings,
- To face challenges & find long-lasting love, purpose and peace.
What I seek is connection with like-minded people ready to elevate together. I’d love to hear your thoughts on writing and what has helped you improve as a writer.
