Too Many Thoughts

My anxiety makes overthinking chronic

I have too many thoughts sometimes. They crowd inside my brain, distracting me from other things and keeping me awake. Appearing as from nowhere they go swirling round in circles and though I try, I cannot seem to activate the brakes.

It seems that my anxiety makes overthinking chronic, and so I tear myself apart and falling into darkness. I sometimes joke I need a mental enema to stop it, to clear my mind of all those thoughts, achieving some catharsis.

With thanks to Sahil Patel for the invitation to join in this daily poetry prompt challenge.
