RANDOM | FICTION | DRABBLE

Too Heavy a Load to Carry

When cats eat too much

Today’s random word is Carry.

“I’m not heavy. I’m large,” says Huey. — Author’s photo.

Because drabbles are short, please consider staying on this page for at least 30 seconds. I’d love to know you were here. 💕

Karen wondered how she was going to bring Huey to the vet. Not only was he a glutton for treats, adding on weight, but he was also an oversized cat. Master pudgy was no longer palm-sized or easy to carry.

So, she hid his treats, fed him less kibble, and played fetch to give him exercise. Still, he continued to grow.

“Doc, do you make house calls?” Karen pleaded.

“No. Here’s what to do: Put him on lower-calorie cat food, and by his next appointment, he’ll be an itty-bitty kitty.”

Huey overheard her and laughed, “Fat chance!”

Remember to visit Fiction Shorts often daily so you don’t miss my daily drabbles and those of other deserving drabblers.

Nancy Oglesby writes, “If you are unfamiliar with a drabble, it is a fiction story of exactly 100 words.”

To make the challenge more interesting, each day, she gives a random word prompt.

Don’t miss out on today’s drabble.

If you’re looking for this month’s prompts, Fiction Short’s got you covered.
