Today: It’s a Brand New Day

Today is a Brand New Day!

It brings a fresh start, new possibilities, and a clean slate. A genesis for your next steps, a commencement for your creativity … and, if warranted, a different path.

Yesterday is over. Tomorrow hasn’t arrived.

Without grudges or grungies (that happened yesterday). Today, you will take steps. Hopefully, forward. If you didn’t like the path you were on yesterday, travel a new path. If you do like the path you’re on, keep on truckin’.

I used to work with adjudicated teenagers. Some of them had a hard life. Part of my work was to go to their rooms each morning at a pre-dawn hour and wake them up. Here’s what I said when I opened their door:

“It’s a Brand New Day.”

Any consequences that carried over had already been discussed with them in days already passed. While the results of previous choices may still be with us, the choices of their response to today were fresh.

New opportunity! A blank canvas. And “I Love You” (my choice, my decision) was all I had in my heart.

Same for you. Perhaps you’re not an at-risk young person. Maybe you’re facing a tough battle in life (I know I am, a few of them). But…

It’s a Brand New Day — a blank canvas. New opportunities lie ahead. And “I Love You” (my choice, my decision. You didn’t earn it, and you probably won’t change my mind or heart).

Today.
