Abstract

The protagonist, having witnessed a burned village, heads downhill towards the nearest settlement. On the way, they meet an elven archer who informs them of an orc attack and the capture of prisoners, including children. The archer hurries off to warn her people, while the protagonist continues to the tavern, determined to rescue their family. The protagonist is then presented with two choices: to recruit a band of brave adventurers in the tavern or to get money for armor and supplies, whatever it takes.

You head downhill, towards the nearest settlement. On the way, you pass an elven archer dressed in black, with a serious face.

“Be careful,” you say. “There was an attack. The village up there is burned.”

“Orcs did it,” she says. “I must warn my people.”

“You saw the attack?”

“No. But far ahead on my road, I saw them taking their prisoners to the forest.”

“Prisoners? Children among them?”

She nods, then hurries off.

You clench your fists. Your family may still be alive — but they need help.
