Tired Of Living An Ordinary Life? Try This Red Pill
“Are you satisfied with the way you are living your life?”
Maybe you don’t know the answer to the question yet and that’s ok. Sometimes it takes time for all the pieces to fall into place so a better question to ask is this:
“Will you have any regrets if your life were to end today?”
I know… who wants to think about something so morbid…. but it’s an important question to ask due to the unpredictable nature of life.
Our mortality hardly ever crosses our mind as we are distracted by the routine which we have built in our everyday life…
Wake up at 7.00 am, brush your teeth, take a shower, get dressed, commute to work, spend 9 hours in the office, commute back home, etc., etc.,
As someone living in London, I was one of millions of people who lived this type of routine life and the only true freedom I received was on weekends or holidays.
When I decided to quit my job at the start of the year to become my own boss, my manager was so shocked that he refused to acknowledge the fact that I was leaving…
I had told my manager that I had been day trading indices outside my work hours which had piqued his interest and he was keen to learn more as he wanted to do the same.
But when I told him that I was going to take my trading seriously and do this full time…. he was dismissive of the idea and suddenly was no longer happy that I was trading in my own time by calling it a conflict of interest.
My manager had reminded me of Agent Smith from The Matrix, wanting me to continue taking blue pills and remain addicted to that monthly paycheck. He had given up on his own dreams so he did not want to see others live life on their own terms.
We have all met these types of characters in our lives who tell us to take the safe path trodden by many and live a life of comfort which I equate to taking the blue pill.
But as you get older, that is when the regrets slowly start to kick in… maybe I should have listened to myself and gone backpacking in South East Asia, maybe I should have opened that Coffee shop with my best friend, etc., etc.,
We tend to overestimate the risks associated with living life and talk ourselves out of taking that leap out of fear but I strongly believe that fear is the biggest destroyer of dreams.
As I got older, I realized that waiting for the right time is pointless since there is always going to be a reason why you should not be taking that big leap in your life.
The longer you think about it, the more reasons your mind will generate on why you should not take that risk. Some refer to this phenomenon as ‘Analysis Paralysis,’ and, in the end, you avoid taking action and stick to what makes you comfortable.
I’m not suggesting that everyone should quit their job and start a business or jump off a cliff to feel that adrenaline rush.
We all have our own unique circumstances that need to be factored in with any decision but what I am suggesting is that more people should be taking the risks needed to live their best life. I equate this to taking the red pill as you are liberating yourself from societal pressures to live life on your terms.
My message to you is simple, be bold & fearless with your life choices by taking the red pill just like Neo.
“Life is not a movie which is why we can all be the chosen one”
