Tips To Help You Save Money!
Simple strategies to stretch your money
If you have checked your bank account and discovered you are spending more money than saving, you may need to start budgeting. Here are a few tips to help you save money and develop a robust savings account. These suggestions may be just what the financial doctor ordered whether you’re saving for retirement, a new automobile, or an exotic vacation.
- Bag your lunch. As the pandemic winds down, some people are going to work. People like teachers, store reps, and other essential professionals, have been working outside the home. It can be costly, especially when you factor in the cost of gas and car insurance. Even if your workplace offers a cafeteria or restaurant, bringing your own food will save you money. Start with sandwiches or a cup of coffee or soup in a thermos. Dessert can be a fruit cup or an orange. You’ll be astonished at how much money you can save if you make your own instant coffee, or bring coffee pods to work.
- If at all possible, apply to work at home. Many companies offer employees an opportunity to work at home. This is a great opportunity to cut down on gas expenses if you drive, and can also eliminate the need to buy bus passes, or eat at the company cafeteria. You can also declare this on your income tax and deduct some expenses, as well.
- Clip coupons. You can find great coupons at the free publications available at the library, online, or delivered to your residence. I’ve found useful money-saving coupons for health shows, restaurants, clothing stores, and groceries.
- Skip the nail salons, and do your own nails. Although I enjoy the pampering that comes with going to a manicure salon, these establishments can be costly. You can cut your own nails or purchase identical materials from a drugstore to achieve the same outcome.
- Try to cut your own hair, Alternatively, if you aren’t very adept with scissors, consider enrolling in one of the many hairdressing schools that provide discounted rates to consumers. If you really must visit your favorite salon, try not to do so every month or wait a few months to schedule an appointment. Short hair necessitates regular routine maintenance. If you let your hair grow out, you may find that you don’t need to go to the salon as regularly.
- Learn to cook your own steak or pasta meal. There are amazing shows on television or YouTube that offer you the inspiration to cook your own fabulous meal. In addition, you can find mouth-watering recipes on the Internet. Not only will you be able to learn how to create delicious homemade salads or a roast dinner meal, but you will also be able to take to work the leftovers and eat out less. I have tried 3 times before I perfected the art of broiling the perfect steak! I also have prepared a stew that can last a week for me and my family.
- Shop at consignment stores for furniture or other household items. You can find great items for less at these places. Although the furniture may not be brand new, you can take home items that won’t break your bank account.
- Check out Facebook groups for free items. There are a number of free Facebook groups where you can pick up free items for the home. You can also go to Craigslist where there is a section for free items as well.
- Stick With One Credit Card. You can avoid the interest charges that add up, especially if you own credit cards. But if you pay off your credit card bill on time every month, this could save you hundreds of dollars in interest over a year. If you have more than one credit card, try to manage on just one credit card, which you may want to use for emergency purposes. You can also select credit cards that offer a cashback program, or air miles. Start shopping around for the best credit card deal.
- Skip The Takeout Coffee. You can save $3 a day if you make your own coffee at home. If you are used to buying cappuccino or treating your friends to these expensive drinks, stop going to coffee places. Buy a bag of gourmet coffee beans and make your home great home-brewed coffee.
- Take Advantage of Seniors pricing. You can get free coffee at some fast-food restaurants if you are a senior, or discounted food prices at restaurants.
- Take Advantage of Student Pricing. You may qualify for special phone rate plans at your local cellphone provider. You can also get student movie discounts or discounts for students at outdoor concerts. All you need to do is ask the establishment.
