Tips to Give a Helpful Online Review
Your opinion matters
Online shopping sites are host to millions of items. Some people know exactly what they want and make the purchase while others need a little help deciding whether this or that will be right for them. Customer reviews are rather helpful in this regard, but not everyone knows how to leave a helpful review.
Books
Quite a few readers leave a plot summary in the review section of a book. This is not necessary as, along with a picture of the book, the publisher has already provided a synopsis of the story. Potential customers look for reviews to find out what you, the reader, thought of this book. Along with a 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5-star rating (1 being poor, 5 being excellent), a review should be your opinion of the story. Was it good, bad, boring, interesting, suspenseful, or funny? You decide. As a reviewer, this is your chance to tell potential customers whether they should or shouldn’t buy the book.
Clothing
Clothing doesn’t need to be described either, as the picture gives the viewer a fairly good idea of what a dress, shirt, or any other item looks like. When leaving a review, rather concentrate on the fit. Is a size 7 really a size 7 or should someone who is a size 7 go for a bigger or smaller size? You might also describe the cut and the material of the garment. In a photo, a skirt or blouse might look lovely, but the reality is often very different.
Shoes
Buying shoes online is tricky. If you’re a size 7 and you order a size 7 shoe or boot, chances are the footwear is too big or too small. In the review section, it would be helpful if you mentioned if the size is true. You might also pay some attention to the comfort of the shoe. Many people are attracted to the look of footwear but are disappointed when they receive the shoes or sandals, as they hurt their feet.
Coloring books and pencils
Coloring has taken the world by storm because many consider it a fun, creative, and relaxing hobby. For supplies, artists turn to online stores because locally they might not find what they’re looking for. While some coloring books allow the viewer to take a peek at the first few pages, it helps if the reviewer describes the difficulty level of the drawings and the quality of the paper.
When reviewing coloring pencils, mention the quality of the pencil. An artist will want to know if the pencils are hard or soft, vibrant in color or flat. Mention if the point breaks easily when pressure is applied or worse if the point breaks when sharpening.
Groceries
More and more people shop online for groceries. Where it comes to coffee, tea, rice, and juices they know more or less what to expect, but candy, cookies, chocolate, and other delicacies are a different matter. Since they can’t sample the goods, they look for reviews to see if customers are satisfied with the merchandise.
Next time when you buy something online, leave a review. It only takes a few minutes and your opinion of an item matters.
