How to make your lips extra bewitching

I’m addicted to lipstick. Addicted like I need a self-help group addicted.

Why?

Because the right lipstick can make you feel fabulous. Sexy. Bold. Beautiful.

And I’m sure many of you may have found your signature color. However, as wonderful as it is to find a shade that just screams “you,” you still need to switch things up a bit every now and then. After all, changing your shade is an attention grabber. It can make that crush who doesn’t know you exist look twice, not to mention your long-term partner.

Fact: No matter what color you choose, specific tips can make your lips look more seductive.

Here are a few to experiment with.

Use lip liner.

Using lip liner is a must for more alluring lips. In addition to making sure your lipstick doesn’t smudge, side, or bleed, it can give your lips more definition and fullness.

For those who prefer the natural look:

Simply follow your natural lip line with a liner in a nude color or a liner similar to the lip shade you’ll be wearing.

For those who want to create the illusion of larger lips:

Instead of following your natural lip line, line slightly above. Slightly. Lining too much outside the line can look clownish.

Highlight your cupid’s bow.

Cupid’s bows are sexy. For example, Insider cites cosmetic surgeon Dr. Julian De Silva, who states that a “heavily-defined cupid’s bow is the most requested lip shape.”

So how do you accentuate this provocative part of the lip?

Use a cream highlighter right above it and go subtle. Like facial contouring, light makes things look more prominent, so using highlighter in this area will give you that slightly puckered “Marilyn Monroe” lip.

Model Jessica Stam states in Elle:

“The best kept secret that I’ve learned from makeup artists is to add a bit of highlighter or shimmer to your cupid’s bow. It instantly opens up your lips and makes them look twice as large. I do this every time I go to an event.”

Highlight the middle of the lip.

To create the look of extra volume and pout, highlight in another place: the middle of your bottom lip.

Just a dot of blended highlighter can do the trick.

Use lip plumper.

In the past, many women avoided lip plumpers because of their not-so-sexy sting. However, many of today’s formulations manage to “give you the big” without the burn. Refinery 29 lists some great choices for non-irritating plumpers, including my favorite, Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme Lip Plumper. Not only does it make lips look larger, but it also comes in tinted shades.

The bottom line:

William Shakespeare writes in Henry V:

“You have witchcraft in your lips.”

You do, you know?

So keep the magic going and up the enchantment with a few simple tips and tricks.
