REGENERATIVE FUTURE

Time to Rest, Time to Energize for 2021

There’s much more to tell, but for now, I’ll be silent

What a rollercoaster journey it’s been. What a magical walk in the woods for me personally and the ones around me whose lives have touched mine. My first learning cycle about regeneration has come full circle.

It took me 7 years to expand the shores of my little pond and become a lake. And only last week the last puzzle piece (for now…) clicked.

During the journey, I often wondered how we can solve all our vast world problems with regeneration. And now I see how. It will not only need systemic design. It will also need symbiosis and flow.

And the moment I realized the vast implications of those words, my mind started to make the connections between our currently stuck human systems based on scarcity and the vast opportunities for the future. My dreams are fierce now. My vision is still a bit clouded but clearing up day by day.

Of course, there’s much more to know than what I see now. I was a pond and became a lake. And as you all know, the lake has a bigger shoreline than a pond. This shoreline is the connection to my not-knowing. The wisdom of our planet is vast, my friends, and we’ve only just scratched the surface.

So, now I even understand Albert Einstein when he says:

“The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don’t know.” — Einstein

Abundanism

Next year, I’ll be busy writing the book Abundanism. My view on how we can heal the world and make her regenerative again. My view on how we, as humans, can be resilient in the face of adversity and always bounce back a little wiser and a little more whole (holistic).

I’ve healed the discomfort of looking at my own reflection, so I’ll be doing YouTube as well. The first talk I recorded for The Balipara Foundation is on there now. And next year, she’ll get company from many other explanatory videos about regeneration and the very practical steps we can take to heal our world and build a better one together.

None of the videos will be perfect. All of them will be just me. And my explanations of what I see in my personal lake. Don’t expect edited, beautiful Gaia inspirations from me (yet).

I’ll leave that to Martine Weber who does a much better job than I can at the moment. But of course, on my Abundanism channel, you can find Gaia's inspiration made by several other great artists with a mission. I’ll collect them for you.

So, what have I learned so far in my 7 years cycle?

It’s vast knowledge, it’s vast wisdom. But let me try to explain it to you in a few paragraphs. I now see that the laws of nature are abundant. They have many regenerative mechanisms inside, with which we can definitely create a regenerative human world. However, we have decided in the past centuries to build our human systems with scarcity.

Politics, economies, food production, and societies are all built with scarcity. We have made it seem like only scarce things have value. However, the vast movement of people who know otherwise is called The Regeneration.

They are flooding many countries with ideas for the transition of politics, economies, businesses, leaders, and normal people like you and me to make it happen.

Many people (I included, during my 7 years in the woods, learning) think that regeneration is mostly about restoring land with organic matter, micro-organisms and fungi. And is thus transitioning our food system to become regenerative. It is true. But it is only partially true.

Regeneration is also about healing our humanity’s destructive past. About decolonization of our minds and our human connections. And it’s about building a regenerative future, (economies and societies) with the abundant, regenerative laws of nature.

Darwin and Neo-Darwinists

It can be done. And I now see what a whole genome of scientists before me saw when they started their journeys.

I see that Charles Darwin was right. But the Neo-Darwinists are wrong. It has never been about genes. They are just storage vessels of past information. In order to make our world regenerative, we need to study cells instead. They are the regenerative, the recreating ones.

For seven years, I’ve been mainly focused on James Lovelock and the Gaia Hypothesis. But James is nothing without Lynn Margulis and her Five Kingdoms of Nature. Together they hold the key to a regenerative future.

I knew of the five kingdoms, but I never understood them well enough to see the horizon clearly. Symbiosis is what we need on top of systemic design to create the new world.

And then we need flow. We need to prevent ourselves from becoming stuck on our journey. We need to give ourselves space so new insights can emerge.

In nature, biodiversity is the balancing factor. In human systems, diversity is the balancing factor. And, my, how difficult it is to deal with that. We only see our own perspective so how can we honestly deal with diversity?

What I call ‘rewilding my soul’ and ‘the feminine way’ will help us with that. By healing our past of being scared of intuition, our hearts, and our souls, we will be able to develop our inner wisdom in such a way that she will guide us on the journey. And those journeys will all be very personal journeys.

The Future for Me

The remaining decades (I hope) of my life, I will spend helping others who are ponds to become lakes as well. And I will spend a lot of my energy helping all who are on the regenerative path grow into much bigger lakes than I personally will ever be.

I’m no scientist with a specialist subject. I’m a normal woman who wants a better world for our grandchildren. But I do understand the science now, up to a certain extent, and can intelligently discuss implications.

I do have a talent for connecting dots, listening deeply, and communicating clearly. So that’s what my personal role will be.

The best way to fulfill my role is by building rivers between us all. You know things I don’t know. And I know things you might not know. But I first have to make sure where you are in ‘the knowing about regeneration’ before I pour out my lake of knowledge over you.

So, I’ll be mostly listening to you in my personal contacts. And then give you one puzzle piece (or access to a person in my vast network) to hopefully help you further at that specific moment on your learning path.

And because my time is limited and I cannot give personal attention to all people in the world (although I would like to know you all!), I’ll be writing and making YouTube films. And don’t despair if you want to learn from me and I’ll tell you that something or somebody else has my priority at a certain moment. There are many more like me you can learn from.

The regeneration is our horizon and we are all walking our very personal paths. Here are a few of my sisters and brothers on this path. Anna Blume jenny andersson Anna Pollock Ilaria Forte Daniel Christian Wahl Jodie Harburt Alexander Prinsen Mark Slegers Joost Wouters iCanay Rudy de Waele Yuri van Geest Ayumi Matsuzaka Christiana Gardikioti Ina Matijević Alan Rayner Zairah Khan Kees Klomp Biomimicry Institute BEAM, inc Kevindoylejones Otto Scharmer Rutger Bregman Dr. Vandana Shiva Heather Jo Flores, and all those that might not be active on this platform (yet) but are working in many ways and a vast diversity of regenerative projects to make us reach the horizon.

Divergence and Convergence

Dear friends, I’m tired now. I have been in a cycle of 7 years divergence. I have broadened my scope and my view big time. Because I knew the puzzle pieces would only click in place for me if I would walk the most unconventional paths of all. I made my heart lead the way. She knew where I was going better than I did rationally myself.

My next 7 years will be about convergence. I will focus my mind on what I want to create in the world. My path. My passion. The regenerative future for our grandchildren by creating as many wise lakes as possible and making broad rivers of honest conversations flow between them.

I go silent now for a bit. In the coming weeks, you might see a poem here or there appearing from my hand. But don’t expect big explanations or solutions (yet). I have to marinate first to give them the impactful voice they deserve.

For now, I want to thank all my loyal readers. I’ll be back in the next year, don’t you worry. Also, I want to thank the editors of all publications that have expressed their confidence in me and my sometimes radical views of the future.

Thank you for accepting me as a writer, for publishing some of my stories, and for rejecting some of my other stories. It has sharpened my writing voice big time.

It has told me which publications will allow me to paint the full picture of the regenerative, flourishing future I see. A special mention here for Dr Mehmet Yildiz and his foresight to create Illumination, Illumination-Curated and Technology Hits with the visionary words: Diversity, Synergy, Fusion, and Serendipity.

And applause from me to all my sister- and fellow-editors who make these publications into the success they are now. These three pubs are very open to my sometimes too-far-ahead-of seeming-reality views. And they dare to dream with me of an impactful future.

Other publications are not that far yet, they are more stuck in the past.

  • When I write how the new, regenerative business models are void of the toxic triggers of scarcity, many people don’t believe me. But these business models with a heart already exist. And they will grow fiercely in the next decades
  • Just ‘money as a goal’ and ‘scarcity to create value’ are no longer the future. But of course, when I write about that, not many business people and not many consumers are understanding what I say (yet). So I have to explain it even more clearly in the next years
  • A qualitative, systemic, and symbiotic view of science is still rare. Although it is growing. Building on the shoulders of the past generation of great scientists. In the future, scientists will use those tools instead of just leaning on the quantitative, measurable, reductionist parts they now adore so often
  • Inspiration and freedom of choice will be the new marketing instruments. They will replace the practices of manipulation and pushiness that are now flooding the scene. Pull-marketing with a clear conscience. I see it happen in real business life. And it’s making companies that understand it grow faster than most
  • Technology that supports life and enhances health will be the innovations of the future. Low-tech will be accompanied by high-tech. Rational knowledge will accompany heart-and-soul-wisdom to create this technology
  • Risk assessment and insurance will stop to keep us stuck in the past. They will learn how to use flow in their systems
  • We will build new, decentral money systems with tokenization and energy supply, and regenerative soil. Many groups are already experimenting with a universal basic income for all in this way
  • And politics, societies, and individuals will start to realize that there’s one truth only. We live as diverse humans on this beautiful planet called Earth and we have to create our future with the laws of nature, diversity, and inclusivity

As you can understand, my focus in the next years will be on the publications that allow these views to grow and help bring flow to the debate about why, how, and what.

I will remain a loyal fan and writer for the publications Activate the Future, Age of Awareness, Climate Conscious, Change Your Mind Change Your Life, Be Unique, The Environmental Reporter, Permaculture Women, Tiny Life Moments, and Weeds and Wildflowers.

You have a special place in my heart, you have built important communities, supported me all the way and I appreciate your guidance and trust in me! jenny andersson Stephen Muskett, M.S.Ed Sean Youra Danny Schleien Dr. Christine Bradstreet Abhay Salvi Saanya Khunger Winifred J. Akpobi Samuel Avraham Heather Jo Flores Keno Ogbo and Dennett. You all rock!

Furthermore, I want to thank all the other editors and pubs, and writers who have been my mirrors. Who challenged me to write poetry. Who have supported me when I was insecure about English as my second language. Who have cheered me on and have given me constructive criticism to hone my skills. Thank you all!!! I’ll write again in your pubs when I have enough time for it.

And I will, of course, now and then, feel the lay of the land in the big, more conventional pubs. The ones like The Startup, Better Marketing, The Ascent, Creative Cafe, P.S. I Love You, and The Writing Cooperative. You have accepted me as a writer, published my work occasionally, but more often told me my vision of the future and the actual happenings in the world was out of line. Not true at all! You could not publish these ‘far-form-reality’ dreams.

That’s okay. You gave me an important mirror. You told me what part of the story was already accepted for the conventional, narrow-minded reality of today. We’ll see how we relate to each other in the coming 7 years. But thank you anyway for your past (sometimes constructive) criticism.

More and more, people will become open to The Great Transition. The next seven years will be revealing a lot. I just hope that many people will find acceptance for diversity and serendipity in their hearts. And start contributing to the regenerative future we will all be creating together.

And all the while I’ll just be writing and doing. Dreaming of vast horizons. Landing on our harsh, current-day soil and having everyday conversations. I’ll tell you about the transition paths from the broken reality towards the regenerative future. And about the brave people, companies, and politicians that are already walking these untrodden paths.

My dear loyal readers, keep having active hope. We will build a new world together. I’m sure of it.

I’ll tag some of the names I’ve had personal contact with in the past 2 years on this platform. Trista Selma Elisabeth Amy Michele Rebecca Rebecca Zelam Dew Tree Agnes Agnes Jenine Adelia Kaia Yael Maria CR Annelise Nicole Caroline Melissa Charlotte Gurpreet Lanu Aurora Annick Neha Noma Sherry Paul Bill Kathryn Joe George Jessica B. If we did talk and you’re not on this list, don’t worry. I haven’t forgotten you! Just reach out more often and as soon as I see your name, I’ll remember you. And we can take it from there and have some meaningful conversations again. I appreciate you all! Thank you for being on this journey with me!

Have a great time relaxing, recuperating, energizing, and spending time with your family and other loved ones for now. We’ll speak to each other in the new year. A new beginning awaits us…

Warm regards, Desiree.

P.S. Are some of you curious what the last puzzle piece was that made me into a lake and see some light at the end of the tunnel? Just watch this documentary ‘Symbiotic Earth’ about the work and life of Lynn Margulis. She, together with James Lovelock, is the wise scientist who will take us on this path to the future.

I’m not sorry I have chosen the buy-option (€15) instead of watch-option (€5) because this winter I’ll be watching another 20x, I guess. There are so many lessons in this one film and complex science is finally explained understandably for a normal woman like me…

Thank you, Mike, for adding your wise energy to my words.

And if you want to connect, you can find me somewhere on this beautiful planet. My hands in the soil and my gaze focused on the stars. Or you can find me via Linktree.
