Time To Embrace Our Common Humanity
We are all the same if we are willing to see it.

We seem to lack a fundamental understanding of each other. The reason why things like racism exist is that we are unable to embrace our common humanity. I think that we are somehow superior to other human beings. The reality of the situation is that we are all the same. There are no real differences between us.
What were the leaders of this world do if we’ve suddenly decided as human beings to work together with each other? We should not be divided. We should be united and working together.
We Are the Same
We have the same hopes, dreams, laugh, cry, love each other, born, live our lives, and then pass away at the end of that life. We choose to see differences between each other, and this is what leads to conflict. We don’t want to learn about another culture or even experienced something different from our own upbringing or how we live our own lives. We stay trapped in our own little bubble, and anything different from what we believe causes us to lash out.
We don’t want to accept someone’s religion, the way they dress, who they love, and what they do with their own lives.
This is the thing we have to keep in mind. Everyone is different, and we can expect another person to be the same that we are. Imagine how boring life would be if everyone were the same. Do we want to be trooper clones from the Star Wars saga?
The People Around You Are the Same
I want to tell you a story. there is a restaurant in my town but I go to quite frequently with my wife. In fact, we went there for dinner the night before our wedding. This is an Indian restaurant that serves incredible food. You do not know what you are missing until you try actual real Indian cuisine. I live in Canada, and India is far, far, away from me.
This family decided to come to Canada and open their own restaurant. They are some of the friendliest people I have ever met in my life. Some of my best experiences over the past few years I’ve been at this restaurant. I have celebrated and enjoyed myself every single time I was there.
A couple of times per month they have a special event. They called us the event The Taste of India. You can go there and have a sampling of various Indian dishes. While you’re eating you get a presentation of pictures on the wall. They discuss their lives in India and what it was like growing up.
You get to see where they came from. it is vastly different than the life I knew growing up. I find it very interesting to learn about life in India and to see how people live in a different part of the world.
In today’s world, some of us are so preoccupied with our own little world that we forget that we all live in different places. We have different ways of doing things, we eat different food, we have different religions. This is what makes life on planet Earth so special we are all diverse.
We have to embrace this diversity if we expect the people of this planet to get along. We fight with each other because we lack the ability to embrace these wonderful differences. all it takes is for you to open up your heart and your mind and then you see what’s the differences are not that far apart.
We Share a Common Bond
We all share one common thing. We are citizens of planet Earth. We all live on this rock in space and we somehow seem unable to get along with each other when we are all part of the same thing.
We are all human beings. When we look inside our body there are the same organs, blood flowing through the veins, a brain, lungs, and other organs. We are not different from each other. We choose to see ourselves as being different. We are unable to embrace each other as being the same and that is why we have conflict.
If we step back from that conflict and look at each other we will see that those differences are only superficial. Skin color is meaningless. A person’s religion doesn’t matter. The sexual preferences of a person are not important. What is important is that everyone is a human being. We choose to take our perceptions of these things and warp them to our own ideology.
We believe that what we think is the only way things should be. We don’t want same-sex couples to be married. We think that someone else’s religion is horrific. We think some other country isn’t as good as our own. We can’t see others as unique human individuals and that is why we fail.
Embrace Common Humanity
Today, we want to better only the lives of a privileged few. Leaders fear losing their power and influence so they need us to fear each other. Imagine how peaceful life on Earth would be if we could all just embrace our common humanity. Why would we need to have conflict? Countries would have no reason to point weapons at each other.
We would see each other as the same. As we grow up, we are taught these hatreds, prejudices, and other negativity by others. We are one planet and one world. If we could see ourselves as this, we could work towards making life better for everyone. We would have one common goal which is the betterment of humanity. Open your heart to this possibility.
All of us.
