ARC OF THE IMMORTALS Book 2
Time Rifts 55 — From Above
Forced to Land
Previous Chapter
Touzdae and Jac fitted themselves in the tight spaces of comfortable seats. The sleek hovercraft offered a small cramped space.
This reminds me of Phorae’s craft on the way to the Obz Time Rifts Station, Touzdae thought to Jac.
That’s right, Jac thought back. A spacious transdimensional lounge sprang into a rich fullness.
“Shisla, why are the exterior plasma view ports blocked?” Touzdae asked.
“Direct all questions to your Q and A monitors. Answers scroll on the monitor in all Antarian dialects,” Shisla answered.
Jac and Touzdae looked to their monitors.
Simple Answer.
Confusing and dangerous stimuli from the environment are unavailable — per safety requirements.
Have you seen the node connections in here? Jac thought the question to Touzdae.
I see them now, thanks, she thought to him. We can connect to the Needlecraft’s transdimensional space.
That’s not all. There are time/space coordinates to the distant past and far future too, Jac thought to Touzdae.
“Please enjoy the lounge only on this trip and remain strapped in,” Shisla said over the speakers. “Any stray behaviors outside the here and now will shut down by the main system.”
They moved through an alleyway onto a highway for about ten minutes.
The craft sped about three feet above the highway and rose to twelve feet as it left the roads to coastal terrain.
We’re near an ocean, Jac thought to Touzdae with ease.
How do you know that? Her thoughts and his thoughts moved so fast — words began to fall away.
I can feel it. Can’t you? Jac conversed back.
“We will be making a forced landing. Stand by,” Shisla spoke.
Shisla was out of sight in a cabin above and away from the transdimensional space.
The craft thumped onto the ground. The “forced” landing was imperceptible. Their chairs morphed around them as the transdimensional space shut down. There was a small quiet hiss as the hatches opened.
“Before you get out, you must stay underneath the visible umbrella forcefield. The atmosphere is unstable. There are holes in the ozone. Some of the orbital systems are out of control. There are random laser bursts. If you do not stay underneath the forcefields you will most certainly die.”
Jac climbed out and saw Shisla unpacking a tool kit. Touzdae remained inside.
“Purging the ventral vents.” Jac assumed.
Steam and water vapor poured out of six of the ventral grates.
“You are well versed in all manner of crafts, yes?” Shisla agog — with Jac.
Jac turned. A placid ocean filled his view and saturated his senses — peace. Peaceful until small laser beams hit the calm sea. Tiny plumes of water vapor rose at the impact sights. Jac felt Shisla’s grief. Shisla removed a few panels and set to work.
Touzdae staggered out of the hatch onto the soil.
“Oh Jac,” tears flowed. He ran to her side. “Hold me Jac, hold me.” She sobbed wracked with tears.
Shisla dropped his tools and entered the single cockpit. A minute later he emerged. He walked to Jac and Touzdae leaning on the hull of the craft.
May I? he addressed Touzdae and Jac.
“I need an explanation first,” Jac said.
“Touzdae, you did not access the nodes, but one of the nodes accessed you,” Shisla said. “This is unheard of. I need access to her being via a heart, body, and mind blend to find out what happened and if I can help. Is that clear to you Jac? Touzdae, do I have your permission?” Shisla said.
Yes, Touzdae thought to Shisla and Jac. Shisla entered her being. A few seconds later he pulled out.
“I am so raw,” Touzdae said. “Shisla, you have something for this.”
“That was a question? Or a demand?” Shisla asked.
A question, Touzdae flashed a thought to him.
A blur of information passed between them. He produced a grain of white into his hand. Touzdae took it and sucked on it.
Yes — right — this substance is helping integrate it. Touzdae.
How long? Jac.
Three hundred thousand years more or less, Touzdae thought.
