ARC OF THE IMMORTALS Book 2

Time Rifts 46 — Gypsums in Control

Confluence of Antagonistic Forces

Recap TR45 — Scenarios/Played Out: Each scenario in time is played out differently. When Jac says “No,” and tries to explain the Gypsums trap him in a forcefield. It is a trap that traps.

The Kurtz Control Center. Tau meets with Kurtz and blurts out Kurtz’s origin planet. When Tau is about to reveal which one of the three groups he hails from, Kurtz shoots him in the chest. He dies. Kurtz talks to himself that he warned Tau about this and it was the third time he “had” to shoot him.

The Second Splice is a re-do of the first one further along in the timeline. Jac reveals to himself that he has partitioned himself into an inner and outer being. Ourus enters Jac and opens his third eye. As a result, the Emergency Third Bridge opens and extends away from the ship.

The Gypsums, the Lingam Egg, and Jac transport to the fully functional E-Bridge. The Lingam Egg opens, and the Mu-1 and Mu-2 merge into one. Jac through telepathy tells the two Gypsums the time spheres remain in existence. The spheres crush the Mu-1 and everyone within dies except Jac’s Spirit — the arc breaks. Jac thinks the crushed Mu must go to the Well of Souls.

The Third Splice is the same except Rasis kills Jac before Mu-1 and Mu-2 merge.

The Thirty-Third Splice everything is the same — Jac agrees to the bargain. The change — Jac meets with Tu Mai. Tu Mai gives Jac directions to slow the rate of time in the arc by one-third. Tu Mai tells Jac — There isn’t much time.

Current episode: Rasis, Ourus, the Lingam Egg, and Jac’s limp body transported to the Emergency Third Bridge. The action shut down all functions on the Secondary Bridge†.

“What happened?” Tommalar was aghast. “Report.”

“The only explanation — the Emergency Third Bridge has been activated.” Reypat surmised, his demeanor — dejected.

“Can we cut off their control of the E-Bridge in engineering?” Tommalar asked.

“Who are they?” Chief of Security Te-oh Emmons wondered.

“No way to tell without sensors.” Reypat.

“Best we break out the manual hatch opener consoles and EE-Suits,” Te-oh stated.

“Whoever controls the E-bridge could easily sabotage all the Exo-Suits on board.” Reypat said and continued. “Standard protocol for an enemy incursion of key areas of the ship.”

“Griz-Acks?” one of the junior tactical officers suggested.

“Got to be the Gypsums,” Counselor Boygo seemed sure.

“Enough conjecture,” Tommalar ordered.

“Can anyone here send or receive thoughts?” Suke asked.

“Jac’s in trouble,” Touzdae said.

“You’re receiving his thoughts?” Suke asked.

“No. It’s a feeling.”

Jax’s muscles twitched as he remembered a connection to all humanoids everywhere. As functions of his Griz Ack programing returned the connection severed. His on-board computer AI said:

“diagnostic initiated.” He felt a connection to the local groups and initiated two kinds of communication links.

Jac’s spirit rose out of his physical body. He made certain of the tether that connected the 2nd chakra of his Spirit Body with his physical body and flew off. He bi-located to the place where the Lingam Egg had been.

I intended to be with Touzdae. Why here instead? He cast his eyes and senses about looking for clues.

Jax communicated to the five frozen Griz Acks on Atlantis Sub-2 tug in the alternate dimension. By communicating the interior heaters turned on. The five began a cycle toward awakening. Jax activated transport which connected to the Mu-1’s transportation system. Once aboard the Atlantis Sub-1 in the port side sphere he set to work on activating the Griz Ack fragments. The tug, suspended in the middle of the sphere, smaller than the actual size, rotated.

A cascading field of short circuits plagued the Gypsum-controlled E-Bridge. One-third of the bridge controls deactivated. The bridge lost control of the Mu’s transporters.

Rasis and Ourus brought one engineer and two technicians out the Lingam Egg.

Jac’s spirit found indentations and impressions of nine small stones with pictograms. Ghost images of the pictogram lingered in a kind of half life. Below and in the center of the seat of the Egg was a larger tenth stone. As Jac hovered over it. The pictogram activated. Three golden light beams transferred full sensory data to three of his chakras.

He stumbled backward, grabbed the dais, and sat down.

Images flooded his being.

It was the Gypsums’ home world two galaxy clusters away from the Antarian and Terran-Earth galaxy cluster. Six billion Gypsums dwelt there. At mid-day long ago the ground shook. Stones, rocks, and huge boulders on fire fell from the sky. Despite the astronomers and seers — no one had any warning. Three million survived.

It was too much. Jac called on all the powers of the Arc to stop the visions. His partitions helped shut most of the visions into parts of his unconscious. Jac felt comforted by the sound of Tu Mai’s voice.

Store the information in your inner thighs of your physical body.

The body of Jac on the E-Bridge transported out of the restraining devices and flew away. Ourus, Rasis, the engineer, and the two technicians flew into a frenzied uproar. Words and thoughts filled the space with accusations and chaos.

“Get him back, Get him back,” Rasis and Ourus shouted.

“I have a fix on who took him, but about where, I do not know!” the engineer exclaimed.

“Who! Who!” Ourus demanded.

“The Griz-Ack?”

“Are you certain?” Rasis laughed.

“Did I pronounce the name correctly?”

The volume decreased. “Yes. But it is unfortunate.”

† The Secondary Bridge is located on the aft/dorsal (bottom) side of the Mu. It was opened when the Primary Bridge, on the ventral/top side above the centrifuge, was attacked by the Griz Ack (for more see TR39 Showdown for more).
