Recap from the previous chapter — 15: Touzdae’s long fall through the shaft of dead machines is transferred into forests and sunshine through an interlude of darkness.

JimJin and Zenzin ride horses across the salt flats to the outpost. The column of trees deposits Touzdae in a transparent tank of oxygenated water.

Kurtz expects her and demands an explanation. Angry, he orders hovercrafts to find her, to find Touzdae, his target.

JimJin and Zenzin use words and telepathy. They brief her for her return to an alternate dimension, but time is running out. They create a light tunnel, and the three climb into it. The soldiers arrive seconds later, and they are gone without a trace.

Current Episode:

JimJin and Zenzin arrived on either side of Touzdae. Touzdae stepped into a tropical forest feeling joyful. She passed out.

What tells ya, JimJin thought as he slapped Zenzin’s shoulder.

Ya, right yous -taw-bout vibration tous high for her, Zenzin thought back.

JimJin: Call healer?

Zenzin: No. It waitz.

JimJin: Yes… Breathing

They joined and synced breaths. Touzdae awakened. In small increments, she came to herself.

“How can this be? We were in a desert and now this. It feels so, so good here. No wait, it’s perfect. All love and joy is here. Nature moves in me and I move in her,” Touzdae said, sang, and laughed. “Jac, see this, this is where we belong.”

She twirled around absorbing nature. She made a soft landing in the ground cover and passed out again.

Jac awoke and cried out, “Touzdae I see you!” He fell into a meadow of flowers a brook and a waterfall into her arms.

“Dreamtime,” Touzdae thought/whispered. “This place is real — ”

Touzdae came out of dreamtime with Jac. Did they yank the covered blanket off or did she? “We hurry now, window close,” JimJin said.

The sound of hovercrafts off in the distance. They heard them.

No-heed, dis a-buffer-area — hear both worlds, Zenzin delivered the thought to Touzdae.

“Light-fountain, Zenzin?” JimJin wondered aloud.

How is it that you don’t speak, Zenzin and JimJin talks aloud? Touzdae thought to them.

Time little. JimJin is in love with voice, Zenzin thought back.

“Zenzin right, I love sound. Zenzin sings aloud. Not now.” JimJin opens a light tunnel. “Inside you tous. Light-fountain calls. Begin your 27 breaths, now.”

Touzdae felt the urgency and began the 27-breath exercise on the move.

Jac was awake and functional. He couldn’t stop talking to Geordae about the place where Touzdae made her habitat.

Touzdae awakened in Emergency Med Bay under Atlantean light. Forcefields held her in place as she struggled to break free.

“I want to go back. I need to go back!” she yelled.

“More calming,” Suke instructed her healing team. “It’s clear she is not acclimatizing to this lower vibration here.”

Six healers held out both hands in their ministrations. Her body calmed. She slept.

Suke spoke into her headset communication device:

She looked into her portable scanner. Different parts of Touzdae’s body were quivering while other parts were flaccid.

“Did we do it?” The face of Kurtz turned beet red. Enraged he yelled with the ferocity of his voice: “DID-WE-DO-IT?” He scanned his team running this way and that in the control center.

Number 4, a short lad with a blue cap; number 4 on its bill.

“Sir, sir,” Number 4 matched his body movements with Kurtz’s countenance.

“WHAT! SPEAK!” Kurtz stepped back and looked down at the small framed operative.

“It is done, but we didn’t do it.”

“How can you know that?” Kurtz shouted with his spit saturating the air space in front of his mouth.

“It was a high vibration to a sudden low vibrational shift. That did it.”

“Are we in contact with Tau Beta 2?” he asked #4 in a lowered tone.

A Month Later

Touzdae’s body functions stabilized within a healthy range. Her body remained weakened from the vibrational shift change. The forcefield restrictions held her body on the bed. Her arms, hands, and upper body; freed.

She reached down for the memory slab. Before she could put her hands on it a man from her distant past sat in the chair next to her bed.

She brought her hands up and regarded him with suspicion.

“I’m not surprised you don’t remember me, it was a long time ago. We were only in our 30s. I am Davo Kristos, Semo Clan.”

“Oh my Spirits, yes, Davo. We were deep ah — involved.”

He relaxed. The clench of his body released and a warm vibration expanded. It surrounded him and Touzdae.

“I spoke with your healer team and they said I could be with you for a few minutes. I was once a healer and now I am the administrator of all the healers aboard the Mu,” Davo smiled and stood. “May I visit you later?”

“Yes,” Touzdae said.

Jac wept in his private quarters. He balled. His door alert chimed. He dried his eyes and opened the door using the remote.

“Geordae, good to see you,” Jac put on a brave face.

Touzdae reached down for the memory slab after Davo left. She took it out of the holster and brought it up to eye level. Cracked. The inside looked shattered too.

“Have you been able to locate your friend?” Phorae asked.

“She is your friend too. Or she was,” devastated, Jac’s body slumped.

“You’ve given up the search for her?” Phorae wondered.

“I don’t know if she exists anymore.”

“Jac,” she whispered.

Jac brightened. His eyes twinkled.

“Or Jon… Are they my fantasy?” Touzdae lost with unfathomable sadness.

Tears streaked Jac’s face.
