Summary

The author has implemented three significant changes in their life to address personal health and financial concerns: starting dietary supplements to alleviate tachycardia and restlessness, resuming jogging to improve physical fitness, and writing on Medium to diversify income sources.

Abstract

In a personal article, the author outlines three key lifestyle changes they've made this year to enhance their well-being and financial stability. They began taking food supplements, including resveratrol, vitamin D3 with K2, OPC, magnesium, maca, and vitamin C, which not only resolved their Roemheld syndrome but also increased their energy levels, resilience, and eliminated hand tremors. The author also returned to jogging, a past routine disrupted by injury, and has regained stamina, losing weight and aiming to return to their previous running performance. Additionally, the author, a full-time crime novelist, started writing on Medium to supplement their income, initially with skepticism but eventually with success as their earnings grew monthly. The author emphasizes that these changes were not New Year's resolutions but necessary responses to their life situation and expresses an intention to continue adapting to their body's and mind's needs.

Three Things I Started Doing This Year To Improve My Life

Self Improvement is not an end in itself for me. I don’t have to get one percent better every day in everything I do, as many gurus recommend. But when I am dissatisfied with a condition, I go about it and change something. Last year it was these three things:

1. I have started to take food supplements

The reasons why I started working with dietary supplements at the beginning of the year are manifold. Mainly I was looking for a way to get rid of my tachycardia and my inner restlessness.

In an earlier article, I had already described in detail how my search for medical help went.

Through much trial and error and more and more reading, I finally arrived where I am today. I now take resveratrol, vitamin D3 with K2, OPC, magnesium, maca, and vitamin C every day.

This combination has not only got rid of Roemgeld syndrome. I also have much more energy than before, have become more resilient, and my permanent tremor in my hands is gone. I attribute the latter mainly to the magnesium.

2 I have started jogging again.

Running was part of my life for years before an injury slowed me down. When the injury had healed, I never managed to resume training in the following years.

I gained more than twelve kilos in the time without jogging. I didn’t feel well and missed my training runs early in the morning.

In March of this year, I finally started running regularly again. I train three times a week and have increased from two kilometers to seven kilometers.

I expected to get back to my old level quickly, but to run ten kilometers in fifty-four minutes again, I probably have to train for at least another year. I’m eight years older today than I was before my injury.

3. I started to write on Medium

I have been a full-time author since November 2018. I write crime novels and thrillers and publish them on Amazon. It’s going great, too, but at some point, I was worried that one single source of income might be a little low.

So I looked around for ways to earn extra money as an author. Finally, I found Medium. At first, I was skeptical. Obviously, you had to work a lot here to earn a bit of money. I published a few articles and saw that the rumors were true.

Writing on Medium doesn’t really earn you much money at the beginning.

So at first, I was not very enthusiastic. But in the following weeks, I read about people who made thousands of dollars a month on Medium. Then the platform suddenly became interesting for me again.

I thought before, everyone would get very little money for a lot of work. But as soon as I knew that you could earn a lot of money with a lot of work here, I was convinced.

For a little more than three months, I write here every day, and my income increases from month to month.

What will happen next in 2020?

Anyone who expects me to make New Year’s resolutions at this point does not know me.

I did not start any of the projects described above because a new year had begun. All three were simply necessary because of my situation.

So if I can forecast anything for 2020, it’s that: I continue to listen to my body, my gut feeling, and my inner voice to know when I need to change something or tackle something new.

Maybe I can write another article at the end of next year. Then I will know what happened in 2020. I don’t have any concrete plans yet.
