Three New Side Hustles I Started In 2022
My Reflections, Mistakes & Earnings.
At the beginning of 2022, I took a step in the right direction concerning my passive income journey. I let go of three of my side hustles as they did not reap results and I saved myself the time and effort to invest in three alternatives.
I’ll share with you my reflections, mistakes, and results so far to help you decide if you would like to pursue these.
Before I started the three income streams, I spend a few months researching their potential.
At the beginning of my online income journey back in 2011, I made the mistake of being involved in many income streams and spread myself too thin, which ended in burnout four years later, without a reliable income source to rely on.
I joined MLM, affiliate marketing, CPA, CPC, blogging, and filling surveys, only to be left depleted and overwhelmed with information overload.
This time, I decided to do it differently.
Before embarking on a new side hustle, I now take between 2–4 months purely on researching the market, platform, and potential.
I would invest time and effort in reading and watching videos about other people’s experiences using the platform. This would help me become aware of what I am bringing to the table and educate me on the mistakes that I could avoid. Youtube is the best platform that offers free mentors to freely show you the best way to step into earning money online.
Below are the three income streams I started during the first half of 2022:
1. Creative Fabrica
Creative Fabrica is a platform that allows you to sell and purchase design elements such as graphics, illustrations, fonts, and Amazon KDP interiors. They offer a subscription method for users to download an unlimited number of files with commercial use access as well as one-time purchases.
I have been using the platform since the beginning of 2021 as I relied on the graphics and fonts to create designs for my Redbubble store and Amazon KDP low content books.
Once I improved my design skills, I decided to create a portfolio of unique designs and apply as a designer for Creative Fabrica. They offered me a free page to host my store and list my designs with set prices. Every time someone purchased any of my designs or a subscriber downloaded the design I would get a percentage of their subscription fee.
Since I joined 3 months ago I have earned $60.97 from my digital purchases and downloads. I currently have 4 files and 3 designs in-store.

A mistake I did was not posting products consistently. I started off with three products which I posted all in one day and just left the platform aside as I pursued my second one.
I did promote my designs a few times using Pinterest, more on my Pinterest strategy in detail in my next post.
2. Youtube Channel
I started a face-less youtube channel to record my online passive income journey. I share my experience, income reveals, and mistakes I learned along the way. I have been heavily invested in Amazon KDP, where I share videos about researching profitable keywords to help your self-published books rank higher.

I was aiming to post daily videos, which I kept doing for the first three weeks of creating the channel, but with time I felt burned out and now aim to post one video every 3–4 days as I find that gives the videos time to be ranked in the youtube algorithm.
Subscribe to the channel below to follow my journey:
In terms of income, my channel has not made income yet as I need to reach 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time in order to apply for monetization. Right now I am sitting at 378 subscribers and 476 hours. I have posted 32 live videos.
A mistake that I did was not starting earlier with the channel, as it takes time for a channel to gain attraction and watch hours to apply for monetization.

However, I am grateful to have a platform to share my journey and connect with my audience. I enjoy creating visually appealing videos and learning from the process. If you want to start a youtube channel only for the money, then you are in for a long tiring journey.
3. Fiverr
I started Fiverr at the end of 2012 during my maternity leave. I just had my second child at the age of 21 and I was finishing my university studies at Macquarie University through Open Universities Australia.
I came across the platform as a potential way to make money by engaging in what I know best at the time, content writing and translation. I wasn’t consistent on the platform and I wrote a few articles and had some ongoing clients, but had to stop after a few months since it was not working for me.
At the time, I didn’t value myself or my work and wrote 500–700 word unique high-quality SEO-optimized articles for $5. It took me 2–3 hours of work and once Fiverr fees, PayPal fees, VAT tax fees, and exchange rate fees came in, I was devastated to find that I only approximately $3,80 left and when converted it was a measly €3,50. It definitely was not worth my time.
However, at the beginning of 2022, I decided to tackle Fiverr differently and list my services as a content writer as well as sell digital downloads of KDP interiors I had created.
I created my store a month ago but there have been no sales. I intend to promote my listings using Instagram and Pinterest.
