Three-Letter Word

Gen ran her hand over the curve of her neck. Her skin ached to be touched the day after she had not let Kent stay over. She had let him into her apartment because they both were on fire after talking at her door.
They agreed that he would not spend the night, but they did make out on her couch for a long time. Gen had wanted him more, and she knew that the moment when she was spread under him, her legs practically falling open. Kent panted heavily, and she could feel he wanted more too, but he got up. Zipping up his pants on the edge of her couch, Gen sat up beside him and nodded. He took her hand and kissed her cheek. She felt like she was lava when he did and squeezed his hand.
“More wine?” she said, getting up and walking to the kitchen.
He nodded and sat back on the couch. She looked at him disheveled and yet perfect to her.
Now at the office, she wished he had spent the night. Now she wanted to go to his office, straddle him at his desk, and beg him to stop the aching she felt for him.
She wanted him so bad.
To distract herself, she threw herself into her work. The project that had prompted her to text him last night and for him to come over after was still what she was slaving over — but she could not stop thinking about Kent.
They had not messaged each other for the day, and it had been such a steamy night that she was afraid to address him at work because she might be tempted to proposition him. Looking blankly at her computer, she saw she had a text from Vic.
SOS
Gen immediately picked up her phone. True, they had not texted each other a lot, and she knew that was because she had dropped the ball after Kevin…but Vic was still her best friend.
Are you okay? Gen texted.
Sort of there is a guy, we had a thing, and he wants to see me again, and you know that is not my thing. How bad I am at anything permanent? But he seems to be a decent guy. He left me his business card.
Where does he work?
A Fortune 500 company, but that is not the thing. Deb said that he seemed like a nice guy. What should I do?
I have always told you, Vic, that you sell yourself short. Text him, see what can happen. If nothing, then nothing is lost because you did not want anything.
…how about you?
Lusting after Kent…
WHAT???
We also had a thing. He was over at my place last night, and I wanted to sleep with him, but we did not. He wanted to be a gentleman, and I pretended to be a lady!
LOL! But if you wanted more from him, what are you going to do? You work with him. I know that is a thing for you…
I know…what are you going to do?
Gen watched the bubbles on her phone as Vic typed something and her mind bubbled with what she was going to do next with Kent.
