This Week’s Prompt: 6–12.07
All things forgiveness.

“I forgive.” 2 words that withhold so much healing power that they cause us to struggle saying them. Sometimes, even if they do come out of our mouths, we may not mean them. Feel them. Believe them. But…
Here’s something I learned not long ago: Even if I don’t always mean them, the more I repeat them, the more I start believing in forgiveness. I get glimpses of what forgiveness physically feels like as my heart seems to begin opening up like a lotus flower and undergo a cleansing process. I can’t put it into words, but I’m sure others experience the same.
There’s something about forgiveness that elevates your spirit. Compassion, understanding, love…They’re all equally significant, but never complete without forgiveness and viceversa.
I know you know the hardest person to forgive is yourself. It all begins and ends with you and with your dedication to bettering yourself. Let’s not fool ourselves, forgiveness is an ongoing process, not something that happens overnight. It can take a long time. It is painful, heartbreaking, shattering, but also raw and beautiful.
Writing can help immensely, so…How do you work on forgiving yourself? What do you do when you discover you’ve been beating yourself up for your flaws, faults, past mistakes and other things you can’t control? Can you forgive others when they’ve wronged you? Can you accept their hurtful actions which stem from suffering and lack of love?
If you can’t forgive, you can’t love and if you can’t love…You may be physically alive but you’re pretty much dead inside.
I’m looking forward to reading your content! As always, be as creative, deep, raw and authentic as you can be. There’s no right or wrong. There just is.
