This Man Earns More Than $1000/Day, Yet He Leads an Extremely Simple Life
Money failed to cloud his life and it surprised me a lot.
A few weeks ago, we went to Mymensing, Dhaka, to meet a man who has a big lemon farm. He has already been featured on TV several times for his incredible success in lemon farming. He earns millions a year and already changed his and many other’s lives all across the country.
We first came to know about this man through a YouTube video and decided to visit his farm and talk to him. There was a specific reason for that. We were planning to get involved in farming. And we selected lemon farming as our pilot project.
Zahid Hasan came from an extremely poor family. He struggled a lot in life to maintain his family and earn his livelihood. Even ten years ago, Mr. Zahid had no land of his own, no money, and of course, no fame whatsoever. He said that he passed real tough time when he could barely manage his daily food. His family would borrow food from others.
Then one day, while visiting a distant area, he noticed a lemon farm with so many lemons in every tree. He talked to the owner and got interested. He bought a few hundred saplings and then planted them in front of his house. He took the land on lease.
He used to look after the saplings regularly. But little did he know that these lemon saplings would change his fate forever.
Within a few years, Zahid saw the miracle in front of his eyes. From a poor farmer, he became a successful one with lots of money. He expanded his cultivation to nearly 20 acres. Now, every year, he makes millions from selling lemons and lemon saplings.
When we reached Mr. Zahid’s area, we thought we would find him a gorgeous-looking man who now just looks after his projects. We never thought that he would turn out to be that same guy he used to be years ago when the time was against his favor.
He found him with a simple unattractive attire but with a lovely smile on his face. We followed him towards his lemon farm that was nearly a kilometer away from the main road. The path was narrow. So, we had to park the car and go on foot. Mr. Zahid apologizes for several times for our discomfort.
And when we told him that we are going to start a farming project based on lemons and interested to know his experiences and learnings, he reassured us saying that we made a good choice. He told us that lemon farming is a profitable business, and there is almost no risk involved.
When we reached his farm, he gave us a little tour and answered a thousand questions of ours. Though other people were waiting for him to buy saplings, Mr. Zahid gave us a lot of his precious time and gave us great advice. We really didn’t expect such generosity from him.
We talked to other people in that village and found that Mr. Zahid inspired and helped many young people overcome poverty through lemon farming.
While asking about his daily income, Mr. Zahid said, “Yesterday was a little dull, yet I earned more than $1000.”
No doubt, we felt so inspired knowing this, as we are at the beginning of a mission that Mr. Zahid has already accomplished. But more than that, we felt truly happy to find a man with simplicity — a man who, despite achieving tremendous financial success, is extremely humble and helpful.
Mr. Zahid took us to a local tea stall and offered us lemon tea. It was really wonderful. He told us to call him if we face any problems while doing our own project.
After a few hours of visit, we left Mr. Zahid’s farm and headed towards our home with a life lesson that we must become a wonderful man like Mr. Zahid, even if we fail to achieve the financial success he made.
All we have for Mr. Zahid is a deep respect for who he is as a human being. Because people hardly remain the same when they earn so much money and fame.
