As an entrepreneur, the goal is to make money. To understand how we can best make money, we must first understand exactly what money is.

What is Money?

Money fulfills three main functions:

  • Money is a unit of account.
  • Money is a medium of exchange.
  • Money is a store of value.

As someone who wants to find out how to do it best, the last-mentioned function is especially crucial.

How do you get someone to give you a store of value?

We can threaten them with a gun and force them to give us their money. However, in my opinion, this is not necessarily the best business model.

Instead, we have to get them to give us their money voluntarily. How do we do that? Logically, by offering them value that is worth the money in their opinion. So in order to earn money, we have to offer other people added value.

This is exactly why people spend hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars on business coaching. They expect the value they get to be worth their money and earn them more in the future.

How do you provide value?

We all have problems or obstacles in our lives that prevent us from getting to where we want to be. Almost always we spend money to overcome these obstacles.
